I’ve been anticipating this drama ever since I saw filming clips on TikTok, and it immediately became one of those dramas I knew i had to watch as soon as it got released. Take note, I rarely write reviews as I usually share my thoughts in the comment section, but this series truly deserves one from me.
Starting with the cast — simply outstanding. The visuals, chemistry, and overall performance were top-notch. Every actor/actress fit their role perfectly, and even the villains were portrayed so well that I found it hard to hate them. Each character was distinct and endearing in their own way. My only minor issue was with the second lead’s character arc—it leaned too heavily into obsession toward the end. While I did feel sympathy for him, that part of the story felt unnecessarily stretched.
As for the plot, it wasn’t particularly unique, but it was well-written and cohesive. Compared to other dramas, especially in the Wu Xia genre, this one was easy to follow and emotionally engaging from start to finish. It’s just a pity that the show was shortened from 40 episodes to 36 (or that certain scenes were cut) as a longer version could have provided more depth and balance to some plot points.
The OST was another standout. The soundtrack perfectly complemented the drama’s tone, and I’ve been listening to the songs on repeat ever since.
Overall, I’d rate it 9.5/10. Despite minor flaws, they don’t overshadow how much I loved the drama. I highly recommend watching it.
