The Yiyue tribe seems to be into mysticism/shamanism and into the dark arts because they did make a deal with ADG to have a devil fetus for him. The midwives called TTJ a monster when he was born and since Lanh'an was there, she might have gotten an inkling that feeding him blood would awaken TTJ. Since TTJ is still the son of the emperor, they cannot take him out of the palace esp.since the emperor ordered that TTJ was to be taken to the Cold Palace. I am assuming that they were leaving him there alone for dead but Lang'an and Yingxin came in time to save TTJ.

The Jing emperor has gone mad from his grief. He wanted his son to be killed and only with Lan-an's pleading did he allow him to live. He refused to name his son so the eunuch named him Jin after the embers of the burnt list of auspicious baby names. Tantai Jin was sent to the Cold Palace. While the death of a spouse is an emotionally devastating event, couldn't he have thought that TTJ was the last trace of his beloved wife? It is so sad.
Lan'an and Yingxin had a difficult time raising TTJ. They even sold their personal possessions for food and other necessities. They built self-pity and resentment over time. This is especially true for Yingxin since she was the only left caring for TTJ since Lan'an left when TTJ was six years old. This means Yingxin spent almost twenty years of her life serving TTJ and protecting him in her own way when they are being bullied. There is also that disgusting Chief Wu in the Sheng Palace. No wonder she wanted freedom from servitude and just go home to her tribe.
Tantai Minglang and Prince Liang are both asses from a young age. It is hard seeing TTJ being bullied. He really doesn't have any emotions and no sense of shame/dignity. He just survives.
Him copying XL to be liked and not be bullied is saddening. He later realized that no matter what he does, he wouldn't be treated the same as XL. Just being alive was enough at that point.
With his own dream, we are shown a little of what he desires which are parental love, easy ascension to the throne and a political marriage that will bring peace to the two kingdoms. It is funny though that the sight of YXW as his bride jars him out of that pleasant dream. Haha! He must really hate her. 😂
The nightmare comes with his mom dying, his dad accusing him of matricide, and Lan'an and Yingxin abandoning him while XL laughs at his dreams. Good thing LSS stops him from committing suicide. It is interesting that her blood disperses the nightmare spell.
The input from ADG makes TTJ consume the nightmare demon and gives him his first taste of power. He looked esctatic. 😯
XL and PYZ arrives to rescue them. Funny he found TTJ first before Bitchang. 😄
This nightmare forest scene reminds me of the bts with Lulu cradling Xixi then him suddenly saying "Kiss me!" Dude, what was that?! Haha! 🤭😂
After the rescue, LSS considers giving TTJ a hand in hopes of changing his fate but she is still conflicted. She does go to TTJ instead of XL.
Ok, TTJ's eyeliner is on fleek! 🤣 He relishes in his new found power and we can look forward to the next episode. 😆
