In the drama, the lightning punishment is sent by the Heavens when the person commits something against the natural order (refer to Sang Jiu's deeds to acquire the World Alluring Jade.) YXW/LSS used the WAJ and activated the lightning punishment so it created a karmic fire. Typically, there is no surviving this but LSS is from the Phoenix bloodline so she was able to survive it - her spirit died but was reborn (nirvana). She got sent back 500 years into the future immortal realm. In that changed future, LSS' body has been in seclusion for 10 years and she gained consciousness again after her spirit re-merged with her body. Because LSS was a pure spiritual fetus, she can contain the evil bone and suppress it but it does affect her cultivation plus the damage she got while having the lightning punishment and going through nirvana.
