Yes. The 2nd leads. Qin mu mu and Mo Yan. The maid is paired too, but it's really superficial to the story and minimal and they serve to provide some more context and monologue to the story.
I don't think I have ever disliked a maid as much as I did, than for this drama. She is annoying.
Since episode 1. ML doesn't have a hidden identity but FL does. She gets confronted and unmasked in episode 20.…
Yeah. It probably got destroyed on the editing floor to meet the current standards. This was on my watch list when it was first announced. Looked promising. I am into the enemies to lover trope. I had high hopes for this.
Echo of Her Voice was also announced around the same time and was added to my watch list. Still waiting on the release for that. If ever.
Since episode 1. ML doesn't have a hidden identity but FL does. She gets confronted and unmasked in episode 20.…
She spends the whole first half of the series looking for the jade pendant , but she doesn't see it until ep 18, when he gives it to her as a love token. It's his most precious possession.
She confirms she knows in ep 15 he is the boy she saved. It's a cliché, childhood connection, but the plot device doesn't go anywhere. Sort of a missed opportunity.
Since episode 1. ML doesn't have a hidden identity but FL does. She gets confronted and unmasked in episode 20. But ML had early suspicions. No major conflict after the reveal. They are still lovey dovey. He won't turn her in and she doesn't want to leave him.
I plan to watch this drama, Kindly give me some spoilers regarding 1. When does the main couple officially start…
Minimal Spoiler: 1. ep11,13,14 sort of a leadup. They are "married," so there is a lot of push/pull as they slowly start to fall in love. But these are the key eps. 2. Yes 3. ep21 Short. No Timeskip 4. ep22 5. No 2nd/3rd lead syndrome. Only other interest is a one sided love. I don't like him at all. He is annoying af. On that note, I also think the maid is annoying. It doesn't take up too much screen time.
Heavy Spoilers: 1. ep11 - The ML, while drugged by FL with a truth serum, confesses he loves the FL. ep13-She tests to see if he loves her. Ofc he does. She is extremely giggly/happy and realizes how much she likes the ML as well. She basically tricks him into thinking that there was an infatuated man, who asks the FL to meet, by leaving a fake love letter, she had written herself. She wanted to see if he would try to stop it. He does and goes to the meet up point. She was going to stand him up, but starts to feel bad when it gets late into the night and he still has not returned. She thought he would just get fed up and head home. She begins to worry since it is cold and looks like it may rain. She can't sleep and is anxious knowing he may be out there still waiting. She rushes off to find him, holding his cloak. She starts off by walking, but that soon turns into a sprint. She is worried. He waited the whole day to confront the infatuated man. When she shows up, she refers to ML using the infatuated man's name, which reveals to him, he was tricked into waiting and there isn't another guy vying for the FL. He laughs, realizing what she did. But, he is just happy to see her and that she is worried. They both begin to laugh. It starts raining and FL grabs ML to rush back home under the cloak. They are both laughing and smiling with love in their eyes. ep14 - Their "first" kiss - After returning they are still laughing, but shivering from the cold. They begin to change clothes while staring at each other longingly and with anticipation over the partitions. They rush to each other, about to confess/kiss, but stupid maid comes in and blocks. Stupid maid leaves, and FL is about to walk away, but ML grabs FL and kisses her. I was actually really happy. I wanted that kiss bad, cause there was so much push/pull, leading up to it. For C-drama standards, it was a pretty good kiss.
2. ML asks for a divorce to protect the FL. Not knowing the real reason, the FL accepts and leaves brokenhearted. Prior to the divorce, she just disobeyed a direct order to kill the ML from her master. FL loves ML too much, so she could never kill him.
3-4. It's short. Happens mid ep21 and is resolved by ep22. In ep21 ML kills FL's master, which puts her on the path of getting revenge. In ep22 it is revealed, the master conspired with ML to fake her death in order to throw off the villain. ML and FL reconcile and FL agrees to go back and marry ML after everything is over.
5. The 3ML is the FL's childhood friend. He frames the ML, not realizing the implications. ML is actually sentenced to death. 3ML just wanted the ML to get into a little trouble. FL investigates and finds out what 3ML did and confronts him. 3ML then confesses he has loved FL since forever. FL always viewed him like a brother and is disappointed with what he has become. She leaves to save ML. 3ML then tries to get the ML's name cleared. But it's kind of bullshit. 3ML doesn't face any punishment for the framing. He is disgusting. I don't like him at all. He "sacrifices" himself in the end so FL can get away. But trust me, it's really dumb.
Overall 7.5 from me. I really enjoyed the OST and I actually think leads have good chemistry. Just a poor script and the director has a certain way he likes to do things and it fell flat for this show. But I put most of the blame on the poor script. The fight scenes were really well done. It was a waste of the chemistry and leads' talent.
I think so. As a relax non serious short 24 costume drama. Ending feels rushed but overall it was alright. Go…
Sure. To add. The fighting scenes are good, but the story and romance is a little inconsistent. I was cheering for otp though. They are awkwardly cute together. The 2nd couple not so much. Also, no 3ml syndrome all. I think 1 or 2 a day is a good pace.
how would you guys rate this just based on romance????
I don't think this is spoiler, but someone just tell me to tag if I need to.
Everyone is different. IMO the romance is a fairly big driving force of the story. The leads meet several times which contribute to her growth. The FL is just a kid that is clueless when it comes to love and so is the ML. It takes her a really long time to warm up the the ML and when she does, it seems a little awkward. FL really treats ML poorly without realizing it. ML is possessive. There are circumstances that make them that way and the flaws make them more human, I guess. They are far from perfect.
I am someone who read the novel, so there are a lot of inner monologues that are just not shown in the drama. The drama copies the book like 80ish percent. The book does a better job IMO of showing the love between the two.
I don't want to get into spoilers. So all the above in mind, I was not satisfied with the romance, especially the later half/end of the story. But that's just me. It was extremely rushed and sort of a cop out. The resolution just happens, but I don't really think it was earned. I'll just say, something was resolved in like 1 or 2 episodes, whereas the book dedicated several chapters to it (over the course of a year). I know it's not fair to compare, but can't help it.
Not really. The FL does get engaged to someone else prior to getting with the ML. However, due to circumstances, the first engagement is called off. The FL only truly loves the ML.
Additional spoilers: To expand, the first engagement was more of a little brother/sister relationship. FL just wanted to get away from her family and felt that the fiance was safe and easy to control. She knew he'd be nice to her and will basically let her do what she wants. Her fiance was extremely naïve. She broke off the engagement for the sake of another girl. Her entire family was massacred. She only had the fiance to rely on. For the greater good, the FL gave him up.
I think so. As a relax non serious short 24 costume drama. Ending feels rushed but overall it was alright. Go in with no expectations. I like the songs, so it was fine for me, even though they play it a lot. I enjoy watching the op/ed. Main characters are likeable, but I dislike 3ml. The maid is hella annoying. She is there for comic relief, but I found her annoying AF.
Predictable plot. So yeah, just go in when you want something chill.
OMG the writers really decided to go with the trope for the breakup where he doesn't clear up the misunderstanding…
Yeah. I figure they needed to get in a divorce somewhere. Since she was still using the fake identity. They easily could have gotten divorced by the Emperor who then grants a new marriage at the last ep.
I would have preferred more scenes where she fights as her alter ego with the ML. Instead of them not really interacting for the last couple of eps. I also guessed correctly that the master was not dead. It would be too hard to forgive him if he did kill her, or she didn't ask him to kill her.
This page is for the Movie Sequel. In the original drama series, yes.
Read on for SPOILERS from the drama.
Not sure how the movie will play out, as there is not much info on it. I just hope it will not have an ambiguous ending. I'm praying for a HEA for the leads.
In the drama, 2ML pursues FL in one of the alternate universes, but he never stands a chance. Originally, 2ML was someone that FL crushed on because she thought that he saved her life from a fire when she was younger. FL shamelessly and relentlessly pursued 2ML and eventually they become a couple and became engaged. However, 2ML cheats on FL with her best friend and they break up. This all happens at the beginning of the series.
When the FL travels back to the alternate universes she doesn't give the 2ML any thought or attention in any of the alternate universes. Even when 2ML aggressively pursues her. FL new mission is to try to protect the ML.
FL eventually finds out that the actual person who saved her was ML not 2ML. When she finds out the truth, she starts falling in love with and pursuing the ML. ML has always loved FL and protected her in secret and never told her the truth that he was the one who saved her from the fire. He continued to protect and watched her from the shadow, even as FL continued to date someone else, living life, oblivious to the imminent danger around her.
I dislike love triangles too. I don't really consider this to be a love triangle, but that's just me. 2ML never stood a chance. One of the best Noona C-Dramas IMO. Hope you can give it a shot.
I agree, I wish they got together much sooner. She confesses later that she started to like him around episode 7, while for him it was a little earlier. They sort of act like they are in love prior to 19, but it's the whole I was worried about how things would be yadda yadda. Then we get a cop out time skip episode.
