You know that scene where LJT visited the Empress & CSS after 5 years ….when she started to boast about her…
I kind of glossed over this scene. I should rewatch it again. In the drama. All of the above you mentioned. CSS in the drama is aware of her feelings. But the whole thing was she can never forgive him. She was annoyed since she was trying to use the Empress and also shut her down. I don't think she cared that she was after HBY, but her means annoyed CSS. So CSS tried to be mature about it and defended the Empress and shut her back down.
In the novel CSS is supportive of LJT. She is in total denial of her feelings for HBY and is engaged to Yuan Shen. She hasn't figured out that she LJT is insidious yet. She planned to put in good words for her to HBY, since she considered her a friend, not knowing that she had plotted against her. She was one mastermind behind framing her for murder of Fifth Princess's cohort. It was also most likely her plan to have CSS pushed into the pool. She only finds out later when LJT tries to kill her later in the novel.
I am currently at ep 25..Main leads got engaged.. Can u tell whether they break up? Which ep is that..?
When he carries out his revenge, he forsakes her. He does it to prevent FL and her family from being implicated along with him. But, that didn't matter to her. What mattered to her was the fact that he forsaked her and broke his promise never leave her behind.
I am currently at ep 25..Main leads got engaged.. Can u tell whether they break up? Which ep is that..?
They break up around 47-48. He tries waiting for her before he is exiled in 51, but she never shows up. There is a time skip of 5 years in 52. They reconcile in 55.
Wasn't the case for me. I had that case with Minglan. But for this one the novel imo was superior.
Time travelling to historical period is a well overdone trope. I'm not surprised it feels familiar to you. The time travelling is tasteful. It just helps explain why the character more than an actual driver of the story. It helps to explain why she is unconventional for the time and how she thinks out of the box cause she has modern knowledge.
Wasn't the case for me. I had that case with Minglan. But for this one the novel imo was superior.
I understand your apprehension. Although, I want to say this one is different, you probably heard that before and was disappointed.
The FL is a very flawed character that tries to do everything herself. The first engagement is just a puppy love. However, due to circumstances she matures and grows once that engagement ends. The second suitor, the ML is the one she falls in love with. But it's not right away. Sort of the whole engagement before love trope. The suitors don't get in the way of the pair, but you are right that there are a lot of jealous females. The FL tries to resolve and get revenge on her own, but it often ends up in creating bigger problems. ML is consistent in his love for FL, but is pretty possessive and not the gentlemen that the drama tries to portray. Things happen and the engagement is broken off. The third engagement never had a chance. The story does a pretty good job of explaning why FL chooses ML. It doesn't feel forced or rushed. When the important talks happen, there are little, to no stakes involved. The drama makes all of these moments happen with high stakes, so it's hard to believe that it's genuine.
The main issue with the drama is towards the second half. The FL and ML start doing things that are inconsistent with their previous behaviors/choices. This doesn't happen in the novel. The FL consistently grows after each arc and it carries over to the next arc. Dramaland version will just have the characters do a complete 180 without really delving in why. This was the most frustrating aspect for me.
Anyways. Hope you decide to give the novel a shot as it provides an extra layer to the drama. For the first half, the drama followed the novel pretty closely. However, towards the end of the second half, it's off the rails with some points taken from the novel. But, totally understand if you just avoid it.
I heard that NiaoNiao actually died and an adult time traveler from the future took over her body. I'm curious…
Part 1 was like 40ish percent of the novel. It was accurate to about 80ish percent. Part 2 deviates quite a bit, especially towards the end. The novel was better, especially in the last arcs of the drama. The ending is similar to what happens in the drama with a major change, I won't spoil for you.
The time travelling aspect was totally removed so you don't need to worry about that aspect. In the drama she is simply a neglected girl.
So. In the original she does get engaged to Yuan Shen just like the novel. Actually for the first post, it's better…
I really didn't expect it to go down this way. The fact that they straight up didn't get engaged was kind of a cop out, since they pretty were staying true to the novel for a while. So, instead we get these really strange conversations and inconsistencies.
How far are you in Minglan? Who is your otp?If you enjoyed SOM. You'll probably enjoy LLTG. It's very slow burn…
I think SOM is the superior drama. The story is just better written and they had more episodes to work with. I think the 9.0 for LLTG is from hype. This is from someone that read the novel.
Can someone pls spoil me ? Im so into this series and wonder if we will see the wedding And the baby like in Minglan…
No marraige. OTP are together in the last episode along with the rest of the Cheng family, where they welcome their new member, HBY. So, HBY is not a lone and has a new family now. OTP promise to marry each other right away in Hua County.
Rumor has it that there will be a director's cut, which should include a lot of deleted scenes, as well as a wedding. If there is one, it won't be out until next year.
How far are you in Minglan? Who is your otp?If you enjoyed SOM. You'll probably enjoy LLTG. It's very slow burn…
Ah Ok. So they just got married. How did you feel once she agreed to Gu Ting Ye? I just wanted to confirm, since people like the various different pairings, but Ming Lan and Gu Ting Ye will always be my OTP. Qi Heng is puppy dog love, but could never give Ming Lan the freedom and protection that she needs to be herself. The other pairs, she would always be stifled. I never liked those archtypes where they think they can just solve everything with love and only have a surface level love. It always leads to trouble.
You are in for a treat, since the best part is seeing how Ming Lan turns from being the dutiful wife, into full blown ride or die with her hubby. She also just becomes badass, knowing that hubby always has her back. You'll see.
Gu Ting Ye is more pragmatic and understanding of how the world works. Both of them suit each other well since they both grew up in dysfunctional families and had to face the harsh realities of life early. Qi Heng was always fed with a silver spoon and He Hong Wen is just a pushover.
Gu Ting Ye is also patient with Ming Lan and doesn't force her to do anything. He just hopelessly dotes on, trust and protects her until she understands his sincerity. He is the only one that understands Ming Lan bone deep.
If you watch LLTG, you'll notice similar archtypes between the two dramas.
So. In the original she does get engaged to Yuan Shen just like the novel. Actually for the first post, it's better…
Cdramas all have a tendency to do this. One of the only other novels I read was Legend of Fei. Albeit, I enjoyed the dramaland version and was satisfied with the ending. Same thing with The Story of Ming Lan. I thought they tied that one up well too. But the book version and dramaland versions differ.
But with LLTG, the thing that made part 1 so good was because they were like 80% true to the novel. It started to go downhill for me at the end of part 1, when they did the flashback scene in episode 27 (albeit I loved the scene). In the novel that doesn't happen until CSS is at the Wan's family manor. So it's a consistent slow progression of falling in love. CSS doesn't want to marry, to slowly understand how he is, to finally wanting to treat him right and grow old with him. I noticed that CSS flip flops a lot in the dramaland version. One moment she loves HBY then another moment she is cold and confused about what she wants. She already decided to marry him in episode 27, so there isn't anything concrete to show the hesitation. But because of thos little things they added like, the tiger tally arc, CSS not trusting HBY since he won't tell her about the royals etc. They needed to write those parts in themselves and it's just inconsistent. Everytime I remember the finger counting scene I scratch my head. CSS wasn't that dumb in the novel. She is just clueless with love.
The don't be cruel scene only works since CSS was engaged with Yuan Shen. In order to be with HBY again, she needed to break up with Yuan Shen, but she didn't want to admit that she still loves him. Everyone else can see it, except her. She still doesn't understand the burden of HBY and the need for revenge, which is consistent with her character throughout the novel. CSS keeps having revelations that causes her to grow. In dramaland, she is like I still love you, but can't forgive you. Why not? LOL. So then I guess they try to explain because she can't trust him anymore. Sure fine. But the thing is, she admits knowing that he didn't want to implicate her and her family. But, that doesn't matter. I can't trust you. When people gave her insight before she used to listen, but now it's like nope, I'm not changing my mind. Then later she agrees that her mom was right that she is stubborn. I'm going to forgive everyone now. Like what? How about no. It's frustrating.
When HBY does his begging scene she has a revelation again. This time it's about how things would be different if HBY's family was still alive. How he could just live a normal happy life. So then she breaks down, cause she finally understands why he did what he did. So then, she can forgive him. I don't care what people say about the drama. I loved it too, but it's inconsistent. The novel told the story much better and CSS's character is better. So, goodbye engagement with Yuan Shen and time to make up with HBY.
I hope LLTG becomes popular enough that the novel just gets a legit translation. That would be nice.
So. In the original she does get engaged to Yuan Shen just like the novel. Actually for the first post, it's better…
"I dont actually understand of why they deleted the part of the revelation of the one who saved her on the lantern festival was actually HBY."
This one would be easy to fix with a couple of dialogue after his flogging. In the original novel though, there is no princess carry and LBY doesn't rescue her. Since they felt like including it in dramaland, they should've made the reveal after the butt down.
"That's why I didn't understand of how HBY out of nowhere said he's respecting her decision. It's indirectly told him that she's till in love with him."
The conversation before they walked away from each other definately was longer according to post one. But, I don't think they need to rehash it again. The last couple of episodes was CSS continuing to be stubborn and HBY just taking a beating. I don't need to see more of it.
"I think they are deleting some part of the conversation between CSS and YS.They, too suddenly jumped to the scene of YS and HBY's conversation out of nowhere. And YS said that he is crazy if he even thinks to compete him which is why he decided to let go of CSS. It made me think that they might actually had a different conversation before and actually HBY is trying to win her heart back, again with his schemes."
This is definately what I think too. With the first post confirming that the engagement with Yuan Shen went through, definately HBY had to scheme to get her back. But, I don't think it plays out like in the novel. I don't think Yuan Shen ends up in jail, like in the novel. Yuan Shen says a line to CSS, that he is letting her go back to him, which leads me to believe that after the talk with HBY, Yuan Shen then goes to find CSS and tell her what HBY did for her all these years.
"Another thing is, when CSS thought that HBY is dead, her inner mind said that HBY said he regretted everything, he did but I also try to find I even thought that they deleted the scene they finally got married."
I believe it. I definately feel like there was a meet up between HBY and CSS before the confrontation with Luo Li and Wang Yanji. The reason why I guess this is because CSS was way too emotional. As if HBY just told her and he left before she could respond.
"Remember the poster of both of them as groom and bride , all in red? And if I'm not wrong, when they asked the casts on live streaming who, in the LLTG part 2 had married, the third prince answered : HBY and CSS, CS and WQQ, and I forgot the last one, but still, it answererd me that actually they filmed the marriage ceremony."
Some of the comments said that she got married twice, or at least they shot two scenes. One was for Hua County and another was at the Capital. It was probably for redundancy, but at the last minute, they changed their mind and excluded the scene altogether. I wonder if it's an intentional thing, where they plan to release it later, or they just simply ran out of time. Maybe a little bit of both. I don't think the community can rest until we see that wedding.
"Also, CSS said that HBY is the best man with heart of a kid, when for 5 years she held him responsible-aside from XYY-of her bitterness. I guessed they really cut up some scenes."
What another commenter mentioned was that the whole don't be cruel scene with HBY was removed, since HBY was not remorseful/regretted getting his revenge. According to them it was from Lusi during the live stream. It sounds like the script was rewritten somewhere along the ways, so that HBY turned into the remorseful version shown in the dramaland version we got. It didn't flow right, since probably all those scenes got cut out and the conversations with Yuan Shen and CSS also got deleted. My guess is that they changed CSS's whole motivation for being upset than what they originally planned and rewrote the script mid-way. The inconsistencies was probably due to scenes being shot out of order and they just couldn't reshoot and messed up the editing.
"Again, I read another comments below - if i'm not wrong - that actually HBY and CSS solved some big problems together as couple after the incident of Guo village, that was confirmed by ZLS in the livestreaming So many distortions here that make me confused. And I wondered if they are permitted to release the full version aka uncut version of LLTG."
I'm not sure what the big problems would be. Since the final rebel arc was shown in the drama. What I would like to assume is that CSS and HBY were suppose to reconcile much earlier and tackle the final arc together before the fight against Wang Yanji until the end, like in the novel. Maybe something was written just for dramaland. It's hard to say, but it wouldn't be a stretch since they changed so much in dramaland.
If they do, I wanted to know where they would release them so that I could collected it. (Obssesed with this drama)
If the director's cut ever does come out, we'll all see each other again. I want to see the conversations of CSS telling HBY that she forgives him, not the life and death forgiveness scene we got after the explosion.
Deleted parts :https://twitter.com/afterrnoont/status/1563153534862110722?s=20&t=LwVfvgzc8-sEmepEqgksPwhttps://twitter.com/afterrnoont/status/1563065183870029825?s=20&t=LwVfvgzc8-sEmepEqgksPwhttps://twitter.com/afterrnoont/status/1563370204876656640?s=20&t=LwVfvgzc8-sEmepEqgksPwI…
So. In the original she does get engaged to Yuan Shen just like the novel. Actually for the first post, it's better they removed it. Since it's more of the same of CSS after the 5 years. We don't need more of it. We all know she can't forgive HBY and we know that HBY will respect her decision. I want to know if she got engaged to Yuan Shen, how she breaks it off.
The time right before CSS leaves to deliver the crown and says goodbye to Yuan Shen I feel like we are missing a few scenes.
They don't get married by the end of the series. Just a promise to get married.
No. In the drama they removed CSS getting engaged to Yuan Shen. They never got officially engaged. There are a few other things changed up as well. I put most of the differences in the discussion.
If you want to spoil yourself I suggest reading the recaps first for what happens in the drama. Then read the following post with the novel differences and then the true ending of the epilogue.
But to sum. HBY and CSS are together and are stargazing at a military camp. They promise to get married in Hua County. CSS's family comes to support and welcome their new family member. HBY is no longer alone and has a new family. The screen pans out with a wide shot of our new family, which now includes HBY. The End.
Same here. I hated how they made her character depressed. In the book she was different, more practical and scheming.…
So just a tweak on what happens in the drama. How different would it have been if instead of HBY saving CSS in the LJT cliff scene, she rescues him instead?
FanFic, So imagine:
HBY is fighting off LJT. CSS gets pushed out of the carraige as it approaches the cliff. She is reminded of the that time 5 years ago, when HBY sacrificed himself by jumping off the cliff and all she could do was watch. Was she going to let history repeat itself? No way. CSS runs to the edge where HBY has barely managed to hang on the the edge, but he is out of reach and can't get a good grip to climb up. She yells at HBY to hang on. Thinking quickly she removes her belt so that HBY has something to grab onto as she helps pulls him up. They look at each other's eyes in silence.
CSS helps to bandage HBY's wound where HBY starts to talk about how he wish things were different. How he wished he could've just lived a normal care free life with his family that is still alive. How he would've approached CSS during the lantern festivals without any burdens. CSS listens and begins to imagine it too.
Something like that. Don't make the Empress scene happen right after too. It's just too much too fast. Slow it down.
Yes she is the one to end the engagement.
