Excellent and fast moving. You will probably be hooked by the first episode. I FF parts with Ouyang. You'll know why. F**k Ouyang. But he won't come in until the later episodes. His scenes are not that important really, since they kind of get recapped by the leads/other characters. I say it's a go with your parents.

PE was always insecure. She hides that insecurity with a pompous attitude. The fact that Ouyang ended up betraying her made it worse. When she didn't like GQF, it was easy to brush off his harsh words since she didn't care. But since she developed feelings for him, those harsh words now just feed into her insecurities. It doesn't help that he's hot and cold. This just confuses and frustrates her even more.

I can understand GQF's feelings on not wanting to be open about their relationship. The people that are close to him ended up dead and/or betraying him. His line of work is dangerous and he has many enemies. Hell, even PE hated him when they first met. At first he continued to protect PE from the dark, but in recent episodes he is starting to show his affection more openly. This will come back to bite him. However, this will probably propel him into action. Ironically, PE should understand, since earlier she warned Yinzhang not to ask of too much of him since his enemies might make those close to him targets. But, it's evident she wants him to be clear and open about their relationship.

I didn't even get into the details about their differences in status. Real quick. PE's status from a low caste is not seen as a good match with GQF. GQF is a high ranking official and comes from a prominent family. They typically would never marry those from a low caste as the main wife. Ouyang wanted to make PE a concubine, since anything else would stain his reputation. Also, F**k Ouyang.
GQF probably doesn't care about status, but needs to climb in order to flush out the bad guys in court. He'd probably marry GQF in a heartbeat if he wasn't busy as the "living devil."

The next arc should be GQF coming to terms with the fact that in love you sometimes need to take risk and seize the moment. I'm looking forward to see their blossoming love.

This turned into a long response.

It's mentioned that Pan'er didn't truly trust Ouyang in the earlier eps, but she was just too proud to admit she might be wrong. Once she makes a choice she never regrets or looks back. That's why at first she was even willing to fight for the relationship, thinking that Ouyang might have been tricked. She was too proud of herself. In her little world, in that small city, she was always right, the prettiest and most smart out of those around her. It wasn't until Gu Qian Fan visited and called her out on her bullshit that she realized she isn't really all that. He saw through all her pretenses. And she did the same with him. No matter how harsh Qian Fan's words or actions might be, she listens and takes it to heart (i.e. don't be so rigid, think of other solutions, keep trying etc.). She knows under that tough/cold/ruthless persona is a "good man."

It's funny since, only we the audience and those two know that their bickering is very affectionate, while all the other characters misunderstands and think they are really arguing or fighting. My man never gets to enjoy his tea since he's always interrupted due to this.

Suspect there will probably be some jelousy but the "sisters" will push through and the bond will remain strong. I just can't see the sisterhood breaking up due to the theme of the series. I'm guessing the one sided love should be resolved in the next few episodes. I'm just not sure if she will be still be single by the end of the story, but there are a few suitors hinted for her.

Yo same. This show is a gem so far. I've watched all the teasers as they come. I'm looking forward to when the OST comes out. So far, I've been please with the music. Really want the background theme song in ep 10.

Saw it too. Gotta wait til next week :( Looks like there will be some misunderstandings, but should clear up by 19 :) Hopefully they clear everything leading up to 19 and they trust each other unconditionally til the end. I just want to enjoy the mains officially together.

On another note. Looks like it might take a supernatural turn? I'm not sure what to think about that. I hope someone is having a bad dream or something.

Just a quick update. I have Tencent VIP. It shows just the first Sunday of airing with ep 13-14. After which, it will be only Thursday to Saturday, mainly two episodes, but there are a few days where it will a single episode. Last episodes for VIP users will be Jul 7.

From the little bit we know he did once love FL. I think he has an inferiority complex and became power/status hungry. Some of it was forced due to the corrupt officials but if we look at the underlying I feel he is selfish, envious and power hungry, all on his own. . I think he would try to marry into whatever brings him the most status. The fact remains that he betrayed and used FL. I feel nothing for him though. He's so eww. Glad it didn't take FL too long to drop him.

I'm the states. I'm pretty sure up to 14 on our Sunday. Probbaly off since China is ahead by like a day or something. I'm tempted to wait until 18 cause it's hinted that's when we might get a large leap romance wise.

As of episode 12...correct me if I'm wrong but ML hasn't tasted FL's tea yet right? My poor guy

Other dramas he would have just given it to her already. Episode 9 really explains their relationship. He says and does harsh things, but she knows it's because he cares. Each time they interact she grows stronger. I love it.

I watched all the previews and teasers. Def he will turn evil. Just don't know to what extent. He is Def the jealous/possessive type. ML is always better than him.

It's hinted in the episodes that have aired so far, since their first meeting. But pretty sure it will be one sided. I don't think she'll turn evil. I hope she finds her own happiness.

I know! I felt bad too, but she was betrothed to another. Even though she was hesistating, but we didn't know that. ML did the right thing here.

WRTW is on my watch list, but it didn't suck me in like A Dream of Splendor. I went through 2 episodes and just put it on pause.

I was already hooked after the first episode of ADOS and just finished ep 10 and wow. The little micro expressions that the FL has are sooo good. Like when she tries to act tough, but the ML sees right through it. I'm thinking about waiting until the whole series is out now. Would finish it in one go if I could.

Just a rant: I hate his character so much. I literally felt nothing for him. All sad saying they can never go back. Acting like he is the one doing the favor with letting FL leave at the end. Fuck off... Bro it's because he was such an ass. Otherwise they could've remained good friends.

Thanks for the info. I'm just salty the emperor forced FL to stay in palace for 5 years. It was poorly written. He's suppose to be friends with FL and ML but says they can't be friends anymore cause he fell in love with FL? He just hopes she will forget ML and reciprocate his feelings?
Ugh. Like what? Some friend. With this many episodes it just seems like a possibility. But understand it is difficult to tie in a baby. Maybe towards the end? We will see. Being forced to leave seems like the right move so they can start fresh.

The emperor better not be a douche again. I guess part of it was the writing, where they just had to toss in a "love triangle"/forced seperation at the end. Like why? 40 episodes...they are married, I hope they have a kid, that would be nice. Please no forced break ups...pleasssee..... but I'd put my money that there will probably be one.

The trailer and teaser for this were so well done. As others have started, June 2 looks like the air date. 40 episodes probably leaves a lot of room for character development. I havn't been looking forward to watching a drama in a while. Hope it doesn't disappoint.
