The "must go away for a while" trope lives off the assumption that these guys both have actual MONEY (like, F U Money) but no knowledge of video calls, or emails, or even general letters and care packages. Or scheduled vacation times, or remote work meetings. It's always X YEARS LATER, when so-and-so decides to come back, will they be able to rekindle the spark that once was there.....???

So, Yai's bar (WHICH IS CLOSED FOR RENOVATION) is a good enough reason not to go with the love of his life to a different country, sure, but why not at least discuss a property overseas with his dad and "aunty"?
