no, the special part in drama is same as novel, i just read the novel towards the ending and extras. tang lian indeed comeback at final chapter of original novel, extra part is more focus who is becoming new state preceptor n xiaose lwj is plan ahead for it. tang lian comeback but he really lost all of his power
