Thank you for the explanation. Here in the US we do consider ears that stick out unsightly. Especially for women, they are seen as masculine. Interesting cultural difference.

I'm not trying to sound like a critical person. I am curious - I've been seeing quite a few young actors with ears that stick way out. I'm wondering, is this a common feature due to lying on bad pillows as an infant? Is there a certain type of pillow sold in China that does this to the ears, over time? Or is it a head injury?
