Not the best drama ever and I just rolled my eyes so far in my eyeballs when they tried to make us feel sorry for for the bully because seriously, fuck off, but overall enjoyable.

For all the criticisms I could make about KP and BL in general, I just enjoy the ride because those dramas make me happy and people being overexcited makes me happy too 🤣 I can overlook the things that bother me.

Alice Oseman didn't really think outside of our situation. I understand too because I used to say the same things, but they didn't see the bigger picture. Now in 2022 I don't know their view on this matter so I will still enjoy their work.

Okay, talking from the pov of someone who is bothered by SA (among other things listed haha).

And I also know where to draw the line between real life and fiction.

For things like SA, rape, etc (P being drugged, for example,  made it clear for me it cannot be fully consent in any form), it hits close to home if I can say. It is something that can happens to anyone. Almost all my women friends or women in my family have been SAed or manipulated into having sex with their bf. All of them had the feeling they had to have sex and forced themselves at least once in their lives. We fight everyday against it. So we can be bothered when we see it brushed off as hot and romantic in medias.

As for manipulation and gaslighting I saw those being pointed a lot of times actually. But it's something you usually have to experience yourself to "see the signs" so maybe this is why you have the feeling it's not pointed as much?
I sure as hell do see those things a LOT.

As for the fact we tend to point toxicity in LGBTQIA media, it is because we have a LONG story of seeing ourselves treated like shit in media. BUT those criticism really often comes from a white european-northamerican pov. We can not, in any form, point Asian medias then close our eyes on the same shit happening in "our" medias. It's not our place to say. Alice Oseman talking (in 2017) about how yaoi and BL was fetishism and sexualisation by cishet women for cishet women and bad for us... no. We have NO idea about the gender and sexuality of the writers and it helps a LOT of real queer people in Asian countries. So, yeah, shut up, white feminist.

And at the same time, I can't lie and say some things doesn't hurt the LGBTQIA community.
We cannot just say it's fiction, not real life, because fiction does affect real life. Fiction in the 80's, 90's made me think I was disgusting for loving women and would die. BL, GL etc made me feel worth of live and happy to be queer.
So, yes, I tend to judge LGBTQIA medias a lot more because we are not cishet. If affects us. We are still being killed for being queer. So a "healthy" media helps showing us and cishet we are normal happy people.
