Don't worry, they're not the obstacles. He Zhen is a good character tho, but Zi Yu is a little less easy to figure out at first, if you get what I mean since he's the first love of Miantang, let alone an Emperor himself. And to answer your first question, they will not be a couple.

They are not, in fact they deserve the 2nd lead (3rd is the Emperor and Empress, for me). 😉
