Hey people ... For all of you who love tomb raiding's stories, besides this The Lost Tomb 2, and the same time released, there's another drama - Candle In The Tomb 3 - The Wrath Of Time. I just started and now at episode 6, I find this drama is more thrilling, better storyline, better acting skills with a few established actors like Vengo Gao (Three Lives Three Worlds Ten Miles Peach Blossoms / Eternal Love - as Dong Hua Di Jun) , Xin Zhi Lei (Ruyi's Royal Love In The Palace - as Consort Jia) both of them here are the main casts and better production film quality than The Lost Tomb 2. So, anyone that is a fan of tomb raiding genre's dramas, go check this out, worth a watch.
Just finished 72 episodes ... A few quick points to share - 1) For 72 episodes, it's really a waste of time, too long yet not that interesting, 2)A lot of unnecessary scenes, acts, parts of story to dragged the whole drama these long, too much long winded, 3) The storyline is not that interesting or fascinating, almost every parts before it lead to next what's gonna happen, I'm quite sure lots of audience can guess how's gonna be, becoz like I'd said, it's nothing new or surprise, and whatever it happened along in the story, it had happened in many other dramas or stories, fights for throne, harlem's fights, politics ... 4) The storyline created or directed by the producers are either the producers themselves are too fascinated with their own point of views instead of audience's. I couldn't understand why the necessary to drag the whole drama these long to 72 episodes with a lot of wasted budgets, time ... etc, and from the scenes and costumes and jewelries and location's settings, this drama is a mid cost production, especially very obviously from the actors' costumes, every set they wore for sometime didn't change until very further on episodes. 5) The only credit I absorbed from this drama is to learned that how some ancient festivals like “Han Shi Jie” and “Qing Ming” was formed with what reasons and the why's. From here this drama only I understood why “Han Shi Jie” and “Qing Ming” are for and from this drama's era. No wonder at certain parts of China people still practice these ancient festivals till this days. This is the only credit I can think of for this whole drama. Summarize up, I think for those who likes quick and strait forward's stories, don't waste your time with this drama, it really need some patience and take your time going through it. For those who likes war and political related stories, don't get fooled by this drama it's trailer or photos, coz in actual, there wasn't much real acts on the war's scene. It's very much just put up a shortcut act that's all.
The one who opened the eyes in the end was Zhuang Rui
At the last part as written in Mandarin words, it clearly stated : “All the criminals involved in this crime were captured and most of all the illegal antiques was found. De Shu was on the way escaping, his whereabouts were unknown.” It didn't mentioned about Zhuang Rui at all, and the way they made the very last minute's conclusion, it was indeed causing audiences with very much of misleadings. It's like, after watching 56 episodes about golden eye's story, and as golden eye's abilities can see even the tiniest particles, now is the moment for us as audiences to spot the differences with our ordinary eyes between life and death of Zhuang Rui and De Shu, and the “last eye” when opened belongs to whom ... As much as like any audiences wants a happy ending, I too was hoping it should be Zhuang Rui alive and De Shu dies, but that's the real ending, Zhuang Rui dies and the whole story is completed. It's not like what we want it to be and so the ending should be.
The one who opened the eyes in the end was Zhuang Rui
Mmmm ... I think we just have different opinions, but it's okay, you have your point to believe it's Lay's eye. And I have my different opinion too as I'd mentioned, I had play backwards numerous of times to spot the differences.
@ALEXANDRIA I hope there's a season 2 cuz if they just had to finish this series, they could have shown Zhuang…
There won't be season 2. It is clear they had finished this whole story. My China cousins told me so. This drama is a medium cost production, they had wrapped up and concluded the whole story here. The producers only had these much of budget to made this whole story in this drama.
The ending was disappointed and sad ... Zhuang Rui died. There won't be part 2. The whole story completed in here and just wrapped up. It also stated De Shu's whereabouts is unknown. At the last episode 56, watch carefully to see the difference, coz at the same time, at 2 different hospitals, De Shu & Zhuang Rui both are undergoing surgery, 1 survive, 1 died. Watch carefully the surroundings of the operating room, staffs, equipments, you'll see the difference and that's the answer.
Gosh ... I'd made a mistake, before buying this drama, I read the synopsis of this drama, I thought was purely WuXia and based on reality setting. Eventually the version that I wanted was the 2019's new version of Hua JiangHu Bu Liang Ren. By mistake I'd got this version 2016's. I was watching it with dazed and confusions until episode 6, and still don't understand it. What gets me really confused was it seems like watching Chinese version's “Final Fantasy” with WuXia set on old time era .... WTH ??!! ( LOL !!) Oh Gosh ... I'm going crazy with this drama ! Guess I better stop it here on episode 6 before I can't differentiate between reality and animation / cosplay ...
Thou I always like real historical dramas, but this ... It reveals too much of human's ugly nature, full of wickedness and evil thoughts of people back then. Thou this whole story's incident maybe back track to 2,000 years ago, but the ugly human's nature is still exists even today this era. Human beings never change. As for Hao Lan, I totally understood this women. Early stage of life had gone through disappointments from her family and home, which home this word supposed mean as a place of comfort for everyone, but in return, to have a coward and unfair father, might as well don't have a home. When living in Zhao palace, every step of her life felt like walking on top of thousands swords. One mistake made is equalvelent dead. And the 3 mans she ever loved were decisived. Zhao Jiao was an asshole, Lû Bu Wei was a man with too much of gread, and Ying Yi Ren (Zi Chu) was a selfish man. I can understand why Hao Lan was living in great disappointments. Coz neither of these mans can ever understand what a woman ever really wanted in her life and the respect as deserve. No wonder after Zi Chu's death, Hao Lan was angry, but more of disappointed, and wasn't sad at all. (BTW, this part of character Hao Lan portrait was also very similar to Ruyi as that story Ruyi's Love In Palace). One thing this story taught me as Hao Lan always said “Don't live your life for others but live for yourself”. After completing this drama, this phrase it just sounded so damp right. Regardless you're a women or a man. But mostly for womens, don't live your life for a man, don't need to depending your man, and love is just a game full of deceivings. If back then 2,000 years or more ago, womens were considered as low lying than mans, but yet had the courage to stand up living life independently and doesn't matter with love or without love, I don't see why it can't for today this era's womens. Summarize up this whole show, I felt life for Hao Lan was too exhausting and I quite salute her braveness to overcome life's obstacles and be that real independent women of her era. And also this story portrait a more clearer details of the mother of Qin Shi Huang or also known as Ying Zhen. Her life's details and the accuracy of real historical events. Instead from other versions of dramas, was often told that Hao Lan and Prime minister Lû Bu Wei had secret love affairs, or either Lao Ai was Hao Lan's boy toy lover. I think this drama had better accuracy of recordings than others.
Rewatch again now second time. Perhaps when first time watching, was too excited to chased after episodes too fast, maybe certain part I wasn't paying attention to understand the story. I got real irritated on episode 71 to 73. When Hongli (emperor) met consort Rong (Han Xiang Jian), thou she's very pretty, perhaps more prettier than all the existing consorts, but I felt really sorry for her that her lover Han Qi had died when chasing her wagon on the way sending to the forbidden palace for the emperor. As a women myself, I can understand the frustration feeling for her to be forever separated from her lover and to be presented to the emperor like a gift, more over is a man that she don't even love at all, and a man that has a whole full harem of consorts (like a chicken bun). The part really irritated me was, the emperor (Hongli) had to begged Ruyi like a child begging his mother for his maniacal affection of a women, but totally forgotten that Ruyi too is a women and more over his wife also has feelings too. What a bastard husband of him. As usual when comes to the almost end part when Ruyi's illment had worsen and the part she passed away peacefully, it was very very saddening. Especially before she died, she had the last conversation with her maid (Rong Pei) and told her her whole life's story, reminding how fated on that day she saved Rong Pei and herself how she first met the emperor when younger days her love at first sight with HongLi. Just like the Chinese words she said “Lan Ying Xun Guo”, it was well described about her whole life and her true love for HongLi but ended heartbreaking with lots of regrets and disappointments. It was really sad as an audience myself to view what a pathetic life Ruyi had as a women back then. Thou she died young but I can understand it's a console for her and it finally set her free from the cage of the forbidden palace. In the same time, HongLi or better known as Qian Long emperor in real history, I totally disrespect him. Besides than not being a good husband, also is a brainless emperor. In the sense of doesn't have good judgement sense of who's wicked or who's good. He just totally failed to be an emperor, doesn't know how to protect his wife, all of his child, his sister, his daughter and all his officials. Nothing I can think off to describe him but just a total looser. And served him right that after Ruyi's passing, he had to lived with guilt for the rest of his life till death.
Let's count how many had died:- (The Good One's): 1) Xue Fei ( Hua Bu Qi's mother) 2)Zhu Hua / Uncle Jiu(Hua Bu Qi's uncle), 3)Xiao Xia ( Hua Bu Qi's bodyguard, 4) Yuan Chong ( Chen Yu's friend), 5)Yun Lang (Mo's cousin), (The Bad One's): 6) 7th Prince (Chen Yu's Father), 7)Madam Mo, 8) Xiao Jiu Feng, 9)Liu Ming Yue, 10) Hei Yan ( Liu Ming Yue's assistant), Hei Fei (Dong Fang Shi's assistant), 11) Bai Jian Fei, ( Neither Good & Bad): 12)Ah Fu (Chen Yu's master / 7th Prince's assistant), 13)Concubine Qi ( Ah Fu's sister), 14)Mo Rou Fei, 15)Dong Fang Shi, 16)Master Lin ( Yau Shi Shan Zhuang), 17)Lin Dan Sha, 18)Lin Yu Quan, 19)Jiang Sheng (Mo Ruo Fei's assistant), 20)Commander Han Ye If is not because the dam Bi Luo Tian's prophecy, and Dong Fang Shi's existence, I think Hua Bu Qi are with good alliance of friends with Yun Lang, Mo Ruo Fei, Lin Dan Sha, Lin Yu Quan, Yuan Chong and Xiao Xia. And both Hua Bu Qi & Chen Yu had so many identities : From Hua Bu Qi became Miss Lin 5th lady, then to Miss Mo 2 nd lady also is 7th Prince's daughter / princess until became Miss Zhu (Zhu family's) only precious grand daughter and with another secretive identity Bi Luo Tian's holy lady. As to Chen Yu too, first was Lian Yi Ke hero with double identity also is a prince, until became Lord Dong Ping. If you didn't pay attention to the storyline, it's confusing to understand their identities.
↓↓ agreed with “metamorphic”'s opinion. In the begining it was very leading audience to "chase" for the next following episodes. But somewhere between thirty something to fourthy something episodes, indeed it wasted alot of unnecessary ad-hoc storyline and waste time. Until it is almost the end, it just felt like they need a quick ending and the ending was not well acted. And I find Austin Lin (Dong Fang Shi) from many angle he look like a cat ???? (lol)
Just like season 2, same sad endings. Very sad indeed. I'd watched season 2 first, then to this. I was hoping this don't end like season 2 that one of them had to be sacrifice. Oh gosh, it's the same.
Where do I watch this from? Couldn't find it on Viki only the second one of The Starry Night, The Starry Sea II.
Hi, hope this is helpful for you, you can watch this via YouTube, it has both Mandarin & English subtitles. Just key in The Starry Night The Starry Sea, you should be able to find it.
You know at the very last part, when Ruyi told the emperor before he left for the hunting trip, she said in Mandarin…
Yeah, you're right. It was really sad and touching at the end. That was the type of life womens back then. Especially those consorts of emperor's. It was really shit life inside the palace's harem.
As much as like any audiences wants a happy ending, I too was hoping it should be Zhuang Rui alive and De Shu dies, but that's the real ending, Zhuang Rui dies and the whole story is completed. It's not like what we want it to be and so the ending should be.
