The whole premise of this show was that the FL was the ML's sunshine...and in the beginning when they were in college, Janice Wu portrayed this character so well...she was outgoing, happy, always smiling, confident and did the chasing, and he was reserved and seemed like a cold person, so he fell for her because she brightened his life....but when Tiffany Tang takes over the character seven years later, she is subdued, meek, has no confidence, can't speak her mind, hardly speaks at all, introverted...she is really depressing to be around....it's like the character from college has been possessed by someone else...don't know if the writers made her that way or the director, but it was really frustrating to watch....
There is lack of communication and then there is complete lack of verbal interaction. I have finally managed to finish it after 4 years. It gets better after they get married. But it was still such a dull series, where was the sunshine? And introducing Tan Kai made me root less for the ML. The FL was an actual human being with him while she turned into a doormat with ML. By the end you just thinking these two are gonna live a long and boring life together.
12 EPISODES and I am at my limit. The FL's Wig takes the entire attention on screen; How's the one responsible for this Hairstyle did not notice this?!! One of the most unnatural looking wig I have ever seen in a Drama, and she keeps her head down most of the times which makes it worst, also it's dark almost everywhere; they're poor; they have no good lights. The characters speaks with a low tone like a group of Burglars on action, and they do it over a very annoying almost Generic loud Background Music too, it's so irritating. SHUT THIS DAMNED MUSIC OFF AND LET THEM SPEAKE LIKE HUMAN BEINGS 🤬

Excellent drama imho, both leads are equally strong in their characterisation, there are some minors absurdities…
I'm on episode 24 and I can't stand her character. When she jumped in front of Pei's car to get his attention I was officially done with forcing myself to watch her character. But to read your comment and see that she never evolves or grows out of her childish ways makes me know I made the right decision.
Excellent drama imho, both leads are equally strong in their characterisation, there are some minors absurdities still this is really well done as a whole.
The only absurd character that really not necessary and just being sore (time filler) is ML's sister. Her presence is just so unnecessary and idk what's her purpose at all with all her screen time. Being young is not an excuse for her character. Selfish agressive with her pursue of love? I mean really when people are in danger at shooting event she just popping up like it is a party. After getting saved instead of being sensitive with situation she demanded to be treated kindly and her happy cheerful expresson is so misplaced. Never think about her brother situation at all, despite his concern of her security like everything will just go well for her and the way she just popped up again in the end just to jumpt on his brother's wounded body all cherrful, like seriously? Didn't even show her crying for the brother's aide that always be there for her. I mean we supposed to feel some kind of cheerful moments with her presence but it is not, but we only got severe annoyance whenever she appeared and her love story is just really unnecessary and unmoving at all. And the other one is that SML's friend. Really another unecessary character male version, but at least he has some change in the last few episodes, character development.

It's not an happy ending. They spend the rest of their life until they grow old, unable to be together everyday…
Why make it so personal? It is just an opinion. If you can't stand to have your opinion confronted, maybe a comment section is not made for you. Please grow up. An advice for an advice.

It's only a drama but it is also a bad drama. You saying that no one died shows that you have not understood the story of the drama. It is not that no one died. It is that no one ever existed because the occurence of time and space in which they all met was cancelled. It is like it never happened. The King, Tae Eul and Jo Young survived to keep memories of something which was erased in the multi dimension universe.
The King and Tae Eul can only meet on week ends and only in the time and dimension that are not their respective one. She cannot go this KOC. He can't go her ROK. They go elsewhere. So is that a happy ending? Surely not.
Proof that is was not an happy ending, when the bad guys attack Tae Eul in KOC, The King and the KOC mounted police charge them and the King says "Protect her, she is the future Queen of the Kingdom". But she never became his queen and she will never.

A love that you cannot live is not a beautiful love. It is a tragic love. What would be the true end that was not showed to the audience? Are you going to imagine something that pleases you? It amazes me how people find excuses for this drama and cannot accept its flaws including a terrible ending.
I really enjoyed watching this drama, yes there was some confusing parts but all in all the drama had sweet romance,…
It's not an happy ending. They spend the rest of their life until they grow old, unable to be together everyday and they can only meet on week ends in travels through time and dimensions to go eat ice cream or drink tea. They will never grow old together facing a same reality with kids and grand kids and all the people they fought alongside with now they never existed... is that an happy ending? is it? Think twice.

I think at certain point he (general Pei) did like her. But not love. Coz general Pei is a guy that is very cautious…
Oh thank you for your long explanation. Now i understand him better. Yeah i guess he liked her. But because of chengyin ofc he couldn't show his feelings to her
Is this happy ending? Sorry, I dont mind tragedy nor angst but Im a sucker for happy end...
It is in the sense the good guys win. But it is not in the sense that the ML dies. But you are not given false hope you are told from episode 1 he is a dying man. It is still the best c-drama I have ever watched.
@Alexandria this sounds totally creeps but I checked out your watch list and it seems like you prefer more action…
@ALEXANDRIA I love historical Chinese dramas esp. those with dynasty warriors. Was planning to watch this bc the OST is good. What put me off is the 78 eps, it's too long :/ and your comments here is very useful :)
When I was in primary school, my Chinese language teacher told us the actual history behind ZongZi and later even took part in Dragon Boat races, it was so fun ;)
