Actually, I found the whole sequence, especially the drunk guy hilarious.... While PAT was obviously uncomfortable he was as willing to do this for pran, thus fulfilling his and prans bet on the beach.. and in terms of the architecture department, they had still not accepted Pran because of his relationship so Wai, I'm pretty sure it was Wai, the sadistic one, who came up with the plan to make the architecture department accept pran again and treat him normal...(a guess on my part).

It's context. When I first saw it, I thought the moment needed a hug or a kiss. When when I saw a comment about PDA in Thailand and Googled, I realised I was wrong .. and that the first bump was one of the most poiniant scenes in the film....
Now I am on a mission to spread this everywhere... Google PDA in Thailand....

As a commentator pointed out, Thailand DOES NOT allow PDA.. I googled.. lol . And it's true . Even foreigner are expected to tone it down... So the first bumps is the most beautiful and romantic thing that could be done, although they had just declared their love to each other PUBLICALLY!
I think because people all around the world watch it, we forget that it's not our culture and we really don't know what is appropriate in the culture or not...

Actually I just realis d from another comment and Google confirmed that PDA is NOT done in Thailand. So much that even foriengers are requested to tone it down.. an excerpt from Google " It is not polite to express your private affection by hugging and kissing your partener in public places. Holding hands is OK for foreigners, but rarely seen at locals." In this case even the poblic confession is a big deal and the no kiss and fist bunk makes sense . Is romantic and now I wanna watch that scene again. Dammit . I wanna go home.. .

Oh.. really ? I take back everything I thought about that scene.. I kept wishing for a kiss at that scene but if PDA is discouraged in Thailand, then the confession and fist bump was a beautiful moment that captured their entire relationship, and now I want to go back and watch it again..
