Two episodes in, and the male lead doesn’t seem to have the head for business. He is all for changing what makes a business successful, without ever presenting a strong case towards this change 😅
We have the FL who has been courageous all along, and fighting for her life, to cooking a lot in the drama am…
I am speaking about basic writing skill, the character is flat. Her hopes aspirations love past and connections are all related to cooking and there is nothing additional. The drama does not explore her side wel.
Historical facts could’ve again be presented through a more entertaining medium,. We just had a cooking competition in the palace, why do it through a competition with the Ming? That’s gonna take three episodes of a 12 episode series? We don’t need to toot the writers horns just because there is affection for this drama..

That’s exactly how flat her character is. No deep backstory, no deeper emotions, she just accepts every challenge and works towards it. She is a Mary Sue, who you know will always survive because she has amazing skill and she is the heroine.
The Ming competition was unnecessary for the plot points it had, the same result could’ve been achieved through more entertaining events.
The character of the queen did need to be shown more, because she is framed now as a very important opponent to the King. It’s storytelling, and it just falls flat for this drama,
It’s sad that this drama did not flesh out the female lead. She’s a very 2 dimensional character, especially in comparison to the King, whom has more points to empathize with and understand. The plot also meanders, what did we need the three episodes to focus on the Ming competition for? I may be missing something, but it literally added nothing to the plot. We also have so many side characters that are permanent to the plot, these episodes could have focused on them, or even the Queen a little, to make the story actually come to life,
It’s gratuitous at some points but honestly, this drama is art. I love the pacing of the strong and the cinematography is beautiful. Every shot is thought out very well.
I am actually glad I decided to watch this in spite of the comments. This was such fun drama. Yes, it was built on a misunderstanding and the leads acted juvenile, but they were only juvenile to each other. Their bickering came from hurt but there was always that layer of respect. I’d definitely rewatch this drama—- it’s so darn cute!
Somehow in between all these horrible characters, the parents are the worst.
Tom is also such a jerk. Rather than truly being worried about Narin and exhausting all possibilities on where she may be, the a-hole rejects the idea she may be with Khawee and refuses to even think of it out of jealousy.
I am at episode 3 and what an uncouth way to handle such a sensitive topic. I can’t believe her friend’s character…
Encouraging her to sleep with a minor, and asking her on how his lips felt after he kissed her cheek… not to forget her short skirt which won’t pass for a nurse let alone a nurse in a school…
