Lee Jin Wook’s hair though is magnificent. But his acting in the second half embodied Katy Perry’s “fo you ever feel like a plastic bag,” line,

What a frustrating ending. There was absolutely no reason to leave the backstory to the last episode and stretch the middle of the plot with useless runnin about. This was a poor execution to a great a start. The first half was gripping and well-produced, but the second half of the drama was draggy and stiff.

I skipped most of episode 13 except for the flashbacks. They are really dragging it at this point— everyone is running in circles and we don’t have even half of the story.

Title Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Spoiler
I really do like Sang-un. She tries her best to turn a bad situation good, and she had previously acknowledged…
I also like the complicated relationship between Sang-un and Hwal. She’d always been a staple in his life, even before he’d actually met her. The scene where Hwal dreams of Sang-un strangling him had obvious sexual undertones. Their dynamic is one you’d see in gothic settings. I am curious to see where this would go once the hate from Hwal dims,

Title Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Spoiler
I really do like Sang-un. She tries her best to turn a bad situation good, and she had previously acknowledged…
On the other side, Hwal has been bland, which in a sense, is the way he lived his entire life since he became a Bulgasal. He has no interests other than revenge, no other endeavors, no deep personal relationships outside of people he previously met in his original life as a human— he doesn’t have much of an existence. His stubbornness in blaming Sang-un for everything is something that has manifested over centuries, which is why it is difficult to be shaken out of him; it’s hard to think the beliefs he long held truths and the aim for his current existence are in the end false.

Title Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Spoiler
I really do like Sang-un. She tries her best to turn a bad situation good, and she had previously acknowledged her attempts to ingratiate herself to Hwal. It’s not that she is stupid or naive, it’s that she has no other choice.

I am at episode 45 and this show is just tugging at all my heartstrings. I absolutely love how there is a focus on different emotional connections apart from the romance, like Wei Ying's relationship with Yanli and with the Wen villagers. I also love the moment in this episode where Wen Ning recognizes Yuan and gives him the butterfly T_T

I am only on episode 6, but omg, the sets are taking my breath away. You can tell right away how much effort has been put into this production, especially when compared to other dramas in its genre and format. Love it!

Title Love Is Sweet Spoiler
Kido Gao is really great here. He really is intimidating when he glares or when deliberately silent during a conversation.…
Also, I am not sure if this will continue in the same way, but I appreciate how Qiao Na didn't go ballistic and get dumbed down into the jealous woman stereotype. She had that moment where she felt low and wanted to report, but she didn't want to lose the respect of the man she liked. Even when she talked to Jiang Nun, she basically told her in her own way to make him happy. I hope we get more on her character!

Kido Gao is really great here. He really is intimidating when he glares or when deliberately silent during a conversation. Yet at the same time, he portrays Du Lei's vulnerable side so well. I am more invested in his story then the awful second-leads thing going on.

was it worth it?
Just because it parodies certain dramatic tropes does not mean that it does not have a story to tell or that no thought has been put behind its planning.

was it worth it?
There are three endings. I think two were bittersweet and one was happy, but I can't remember.

was it worth it?
It's definitely not a drama for everyone, being so shameless in its inaneness. But I do really like its slapstick humour, which I think is its charm. The romance is typical and maybe a bit mediocre, so if you are looking for something awfully romantic, you'll be let down.

Third time rewatching this drama and I am wondering how Qi Sheng's hair piece is better than Chang Chen's in Love and Destiny. I also appreciate the creativity in custom design, especially given the low budget. You can tell its the same outfit, but the alterations give it a different feel every time its worn.
