Hmmm. I think this is a very interesting and important topic. However, I don't necessarily think that some of…
Grabbing and forceful kisses are not really acceptable in real world. It can look innocent in a drama, but grabbing someones hand and pulling can be hurtful.
And a man that is usually quite stronger can make serious damage.
Yeah its not on the level of other things, but is still a BIG no no.
This has bothered me ever since I started watching dramas. From the very start it shocked me with all the physical…
Of course the culture and habits play a part and of course we will see improvement. But the creators of dramas need to break the enchanted circle and start producing more empowering roles for females. The power of entertainment is stronger than people like to admit. The whole female empowerment and sexual revolution in Europe and North America has a lot to do with movies and TV shows, yes the male lead is still dominant in the west as well but it is getting more and more balanced by the year.
We can close our eyes and envision Asian countries as some dreamlands but they are still lacking in the equality between men and women department and this is coming from a male that loves their culture, I just want to see that change for better because I think it will benefit them and just strengthen their rising entertainment sector.
great article! I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one who was bothered about the whole hidden abuse thing in dramas.…
Take for example City Hunter the female lead is a Judo expert and an official security staff in the Blue House but yet she is portrayed like a helpless woman in most of the drama(except for one scene).

Yeah it seems to be the vicious circle.
But something needs to be done, even in our region women are not treated completely equal but its far beyond what is showed in these dramas.
They need to take the steps we took over the decades on empowering women and scenes like these mentioned will be fewer and fewer.
This has bothered me ever since I started watching dramas.
From the very start it shocked me with all the physical violence against women(as you mentioned wrist grabbing and forceful kissing). So rare can you see a strong woman as a lead that is respected and treated normally.
Me as a male would never grab a girl and drag her, it would never cross my mind. I asked the friend that introduced me to dramas(a girl), what is with all the grabbing and forceful kissing, would you accept it and she said hell no.
What bothers me the most is that dramas have the strongest following in the 13-17 yrs old female audience in their respective countries and it gives a bad examples to those girls that stuff like that are acceptable and normal.
Still I like dramas, but it will bother me as long as it continues to happen.
I just finished watching it and I could not hold my tears in.
I never cry at movies or dramas and I'm a full grown man and this movie made me cry like a little kid.
It should be must see movie for anyone.
I recommend it to everyone.
*hides because of a bad pun*
