But for sure I hate that no one really checked on her she she was choked by her father. It showed that when you have prejudice towards someone, it will stick really long and lead to your hate for that person even in the situations she is the one being hurt. It's sad and painful to watch such scene.
I saw lots of comments complaining about people, even the ones at the psychiatric ward and ML, not caring about FL although she has APD. But when rethinking, I realized that almost nobody in the series, up until ep 4, knows about her disorder. I remembered the reporter threatened her that he would reveal her disorder to the world so I think only the ones who are really close to her like the company director knows about it. She was also not shown to have proper psychiatric therapies. That's why in many people's eyes the was born like this, she was cold and emotionless and hard to get close to. In ep 3, when the hospital director invited her to teach the literature class, the nurse later told him that she was not meant to be here, and the director replied that no she should be here, I believed that it has 2 meanings: she needs to be there to help others and she needs to be there to get herself help too.
The king eternal monarch has been in top 10 list of Netflix in 24 countries, here the list:(1)South korea(2)Taiwan(3)Hong…
The very first thing that makes me uncomfortable when looking at your comment is the way you randomly capitalizing letters. Names of countries are not something to be messed around.
A someone who has watched the whole 13 episodes, checked ratings every week, check Netflix daily ranking usually from Flixpatrol stats, read comments from here and Reddit, I want to simply say that: The King is "popular" among international (both positives and negatives) yet it is flopping in its home country - Korea.
I was curious to see how you derive the 3.58%. But did you really do a linear regression over a sample size of…
How can you mislead people like this? Your ratings are the ratings for Seoul, while when mentioning ratings we usually use the nationwide ones. People can go to wiki to check easily and see that the numbers are not this high. Ah... and some of them faced the same problems with The King: having highest rating in the middle, then fluctuating till the end.
You dare us to show you a more successful actor? I will name Kim Soo Hyun. According to TNmS nationwide ratings:
Dream High: 17.9% Moon Embracing the Sun: 42.3% My Love from the Star: 28.1% The Producers: 18.2%
Ah, don't forget that KSH rose to fame 3 years later than LMH, thanks to Dream High in 2012 but now he is paid higher than LMH, can you see how far has he gone and how slow your fav is? What else... KSH had taken 1 Best Actor from Baeksang and 4 Daesangs for smaller awards. Your fav? Not even once nominated for Best Actor Baeksang in the past 10 years and ZERO Daesang.
And this just consider dramas, if taking movies into account... wow I can't even count the number of actors younger or at the same age range of LMH who had risen to stardom in movies.
Lol I completely agree with all of your points, that's why I tend to avoid romantic dramas and am more into slice of life or serious ones. But it's interesting that recently When the Camellia Blooms became my favorite even though it basically had 3/4 tropes you mentioned since they did them so subtle and clever and suitable for the flow of story. But yah it's such a rare case =)))
Ep 6 is better than ep 5 for sure, and there are also some points that I like much more than the previous ones that now the story finally picked up. But still, can not love it with all my heart due to many bothersome things. What I like: - The marine scene is epic. - The flashback of Tae Eul and Shin Jae, I feel like I can see the pain in his eyes and they look so good together. - Woo Do Hwan 'cursing' in the scene with the prisoner. Despite lack of screentime, he is definitely amazing from his gaze to his voice to his way of acting. - Tae Eul finds out about the fact that the dead person is of someone from Corea, it unfolds more about Lee Rim's plans. - Lee Rim and the kid, that scene is true scary and Lee Jung Jin is definitely an evil and impressive villain. What I dislike: - Although the marine scene is epic, what's it for? Show the bravery of the king? - When Tae Eul says she's a tourist and studying something something, and Lee Gon laughs, wow it's just... lame. - The Prime Minister. I can not fell her character, her acting is not on point for me. - The product placement, especially The Alley milk tea :) What I HATE: - The ROMANCE overall. I'll just be honest, the ground on which this romance is built is already so weak that I find anything about it frustrating. The cooking scene, the scene in the plane, the missing and the final hug. Lol, she really falls for him that easy? Like I cringes everytime watching Lee Gon flirting with her. - Well, since they focus on the romane, the screentime for other characters is lacking. I expect more of Yeong's character development but there's nothing after 6 eps. But anyway, the villain, Yeong and Shin Jae are definitely stealing the show despite their lack of screetime because their acting ability are quite strong.
After watching all 5 episodes especially ep 5, I really think that Lee Min Ho's acting is not on point. I can not feel him, he is clearly the king, but when he teases Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun) I see Kim Tan and the rare moments he takes on the serious look it just looks... lack of charisma. 5 episodes and his character has not had any scene that requires difficult, emotional acting. Even when he is feeling the sudden pain, his outcoming sound, it does not feel really painful. Maybe it's a unpopular opinion but for me, Lee Rim (Lee Jung Jin), Yeong (Woo Do Hwan), Shin Jae (Kim Kyung Nam) are the real ones who are carrying the acting despite lack of screentime.
I think the reason its having drops in views is because they are not used to Hollywood like shows. Like koreans…
Well I think it’s a bad excuse. This drama is not that sci-fi, it’s just like some fantastic stories, and it clearly is a typical Kdrama without any Hollywood elements. The storyline and the way it’s explained is not that attractive. And actually, the task of a director and screenwriter and actors is to make watchers understand what they want to say, so if people can not dive into the story, blame the producers first not the watchers.
Lol there definitely are some problems with the system. If you click onto the number rating you can see the “real” rating is about 8.7-8.8. It happened the same recently that some dramas appeared with 10.0 rating and then it took some time to be shown with the true one.
Reading about how good this show makes it so hard for me to hold it out for it to finish airing so I can binge…
I think you should just dive in =)) because believe me this show is a roller coaster of emotions which could be fully felt only if you watch when it's still on-going.
Can anyone tell me why this show is not available in my country? I live in Poland, I have Netflix but can't see…
It happens in some regions. I'm in Japan and they don't let us watch the on-going kdramas on Netflix. I don't know why but they just release the series once they're finished. (and The King will be the same).
