Daomu Biji but from Zang Hai perspective
In Daomu Biji Zang Hai is one of villain on the series beside Mr Cox. His descendants keep hunting Zhang's Family because of their secrer.
The drama begin from Zang Hai's father Kuai Dou build Fengshan Palace at Eastern Xia Kingdom, but the real mission was to retrieve Ghost seal using Bronze Fish aka Snake Eyebrow Copper Fish (the same one Hou Minghao's Wu Xie try to search). The whole family being annihilated by 3 persons that want Ghost seal power only Zang Hai that still alive because he is hiding underground. The search of Ghost Seal resulted death from Zang Hai's remaining relative and allies and his enemies. In the end we knew whose Zang Hai's last enemy which is his benefactor Mr. Zhao.
The power of Ghost Seal didnt potray much because the Bronze Door at Eastern Xia Kingdom is a duplicate. The Eastern Xia Kingdom's Queen Minglu Hu decide to attack Yong's kingdom asking Zhang Mi which I suspect he is part of Zhang Family because near his skeleton body there was a short sword. The seal just a stone with poison which can be diluted by blood. Based on Daomu Biji series behind the bronze door is world of demon which can wrecked our humanity into extinguished/ can see the future. One conversation Zang Hai's had with the Emperor (his ally) about Ghost seal and hope the emperor didnt use it and to prevent his descendants as well, and the Emperor retorted Zang Hai's the same which we know in Daomu Biji, Zang Hai's family search and hunted Ghost seal.
In the acting perspective all the actors and actresses do their best even child actress that play Zang Hai's little sister; Yuenu. You shouldnt worry of the plot being boring because the acting of Xiao Zhan as Zang Hai can make you engrossed. Xiao Zhan's smoothly diss cdrama producer and director that using fake muscles for buffing ML bodies. Zang Hai is potray as weak scholar but his body are full muscles plus the 8 pack of his and the actor play Zhuang Zhixing.
The costume they use perfectly align with Ming Dynasty which describe Zang Hai's life in that period on Daomu Biji. Plus their court ministers costume were adapted by Joseon dynasty. Plus the highlanders aka Eastern Xia Kingdom replicate based on remaining text about theirs. Well we know the producer is the og writer of Daomu Biji; Kennedy Xu laoshi.
One thing that I dont like how the lighting works. In some of the scenes they are good like how sharp and saturated they are but some the lighting are disturbing (if you want a good contrast check The Prisoner of Beauty lighting worked, they do a good job). The camera angle are awesome how they pan out and pan in no worry about 360°degree Camera angle for dramatic scene.
This drama is must to watch in 2025 not only for entertainment sake but historical since the culture of Ming dynasty deeply imparted there.
