Yes, let’s hope for the best and pray we’re given at least half a decent ending.

Exactly, it was lazy writing. It almost feels as though the writers had no idea what to do with Kikuchi’s character the moment they realised he wasn’t going to end up with Mob.

Anyway, whatever the case may be, I’m practically praying they don’t drag the psychic bloke into the story out of nowhere just for the sake of a bland twist. But judging by how the writers have been handling things so far, it wouldn’t be the least bit surprising if they did. (Boo to them, honestly.)
In any case, let’s just hope Hatano gets the justice he deserves (because I adore him far too much to watch him be sidelined like this).
And honestly, the viewers who are wishing for Mob to end up alone… I find that dreadfully dull (sorry). Yes, the point of the show is that he shouldn’t lose himself in the typical BL tropes, but surely the final season should allow him to be with someone; happily and willingly. There’s no harm in giving the poor lad a bit of joy after everything.

I rather wish they hadn’t tried to cram the conclusion into the very last episode either. Twenty minutes is nowhere near enough time to show Mob genuinely happy — whether he ends up with Hatano, someone else, or even on his own. It all feels rushed, and a story this funny and with emotional connection (since we have been watching it for so long) deserves far more room to breathe.

I’m sorry, but I can't help but find myself very much rooting for Hatano. Perhaps it’s because the story makes a point of showing that he celebrated his birthday just after Christmas, meaning he has only just turned 18. With Mob being 20, the age gap is hardly significant at all.

What truly disappointed me, however, was Kikuchi’s sudden decision to give up. It felt abrupt to the point of carelessness, bordering on lazy writing I must say. In contrast, Hatano’s refusal to back down is precisely what gives his character its charm. And no matter what, his eyes says a lot about his feelings. There is something deeply compelling about his persistence, which shows dedication but is far from unhealthy obsession. By next year, Hatano will have finished school as well, so realistically, there shouldn’t be an issue there either.

That said, judging from the preview, I am almost certain Hatano isn’t going to “win” Mob. The final scene especially, where Hatano appears to extend his arm for a handshake, seems to suggest a compromise, or perhaps a bittersweet acceptance that he can never truly be the one for Mob. (I would hate that)
It’s also highly possible that the psychic fellow will step in and conveniently save the day, which I wouldn’t appreciate at all. If he were meant to play such an important role, he should have been introduced far earlier. Bringing him in now feels unearned.

And I simply cannot stop talking about how strangely Kikuchi’s character was handled. If not for this lapse in writing, Mob could very well have fallen in love with him (just as he seemed to in the earlier seasons). The potential was undeniably there, which makes its dismissal all the more frustrating. I am also very perplexed about the way the writers are dealing with the original manga, it doesn't seem to be following it completely which is absolutely fair, but the independent writing is not shining that much as well and falling short in its charm.

That said, these weird speculations and unpredictability is making me more excited for the last episode.
