I read the book many times and I felt sad about Shen ye and aranya but not that sad because of how it was written.…
I haven't gotten to the Feng Jiu and Shen Ye scene with subtitles yet, but just watching it without subs as heartbreaking. Gosh, I literally cried just watching the forbidden hidden sad love between Shen Ye and Aranya.
Hm, can someone explain why Shen Ye is making the same mistake again towards Feng Jiu as Aranya? He's so distant and cold. He's just there most of the time, not interacting, not talking, not stalking her, not doing anything. I would think he'd be so shocked, happy, all over the place with his emotions because his dream is finally coming true after 200 years of waiting. OR does he need for everything in the dream to repeat what happened in reality up to the part where Aranya dies to change her ending, save her, and bring her back to life? He has to remain the same, so she can make the same choices? So he can't become overly sensitive, affectionate, and caring towards her? I mean, he realized how foolish he'd been when she died, crying, mourning, and living in misery for 200 years, I just thought he'd do more than just look at her with sad eyes and fight for her even with Su Moye and Lord Xi Ze there taking away all her attention. I know Shen Ye has some suspicions that Feng Jiu may not be Aranya but realistically, seriously? After 200 years and a girl who looks like Aranya appears, I'd jump at that opportunity and wife her. Hahaha. I'm a bit confused, so even though, Shen Ye knew all along that Aranya was only married in title, that no one ever mentioned again anyway, he still didn't pursue her because he as betrothed to Junuo and Aranya's name as already tied? So in the end, he let traditions get in the way and never told her his true heart?
Anyway, Dylan looks darn good for being 42-43 years old. He looks younger than Vengo.
Feng Jiu just loves Dong Hua so much, so much that even without her memories of him, she's still jealous of him as Xi Zi with Junuo. Lol How cute.
Yes, sincere kudos to Vengo for playing all three characters so differently, not just appearance wise, but personalities, that you can't even tell that it's the same person playing all three characters especially when Dong Hua and Shen Ye come into a scene together. It's amazing how Shen Ye can love Aranya so deeply, his conflicted yet loving eyes towards Aranya, but look at Feng Jiu so differently, full of suspicion, not falling in love with her, only remaining loyal and forever faithful to Aranya even if Feng Jiu looks like Aranya. Then you have Vengo as Dong Hua in the next scene so in love with Feng Jiu, so caring, gentle, doting, that there's no connection between Dong Hua and Shen Ye, actor wise. Then as Song Xuan Ren, he's so love sick, following Feng Jiu around like a lost puppy. He's so hurt when Feng Jiu doesn't fully commit herself to him, but he forgives her and still wants to be with her no matter what. Ugh...all three characters are great in their own way.
I can totally see the differences between Fengjiu and Aranya. Aranya has so much grace, maturity, and calmness. She's been mistreated her life yet she bears it all and never slips a complaint. The scene when Shen Ye puts the flower in Aranya's hair was so touching and absolutely beautiful. That subtle yet profound gesture from Shen Ye, the way Aranya glowed next to her lover, gazing at him with those tender sweet eyes was indescribably breath taking. Their last scene together was too heart breaking. I cried. I can't wait to watch it over with subtitles. Kudos to Dilraba for making both characters so lovable and relatable. Both characters loved Dong Hua and Shen Ye but they never used any tricks or hurt anyone to win their hearts. They just love and love, patiently and generously. That's why I love Fengjiu so much. She has no air of arrogance even though she is a Queen. She just wants to live happily with the man she loves. She even treats Ali better than BQ. Haha. She plays, talks, and doesn't treat Ali indifferently. I thought BQ was a bit distant from Ali in TMOPB, in here, just those short scenes, BQ was totally aloof towards her son. Anyway, I'm rewatching some episodes, so just wanted to add more of my two cents.
Fengjiu may be cute and a little childish at times, but she's a good cook, a good fighter, a good friend, good at weaponry, quite smart, a dash of sassiness, humble, flawed, strong willed, saves the one she loves all the time, goes after what her heart desires, succeeds whatever she puts her heart into, so what's there not to love and admire about Fengjiu? She chases after Dong Hua because he is her happiness. There's nothing wrong or weak about that to those who says she's not a strong female character just because she follows a man around. The heartache and pain she goes through and experiences for the one she loves is unimaginable and shows how beautiful her heart and soul are, to love freely without expecting anything in return, yet still give and give in every lifetime, that's a strong person who doesn't give up.
Dilraba is Fengjiu and Aranya and Vengo is Dong Hua and Shen Ye. The roles were written for them, no one else. I thought my heart breaks For Fengjiu, it shatters to no end for Aranya and Shen Ye, like no wonder fate/destiny was moved by their love story. It's beyond sad. Anyway, I love the acting and chemistry plus all of Fengjiu's wardrobe in all three lifetimes, so pretty.
I actually prefer the overall storyline, complexities, and entanglements of this book versus TMOPB of YH and BQ. The dialogue surpasses TMOPB like beyond, the sweet scenes are plentiful, the communication between the two is pretty good except for one or two major misunderstandings, besides swiping a magic fan here and there, Fengjiu actually fights so many times, so does Dong Hua, and the CHEMISTRY is so explosive. Fengjiu isn't always so oblivious to the heart like BQ, she's head on yet so fragile and modest. Ugh, I'm so in love with Fengjiu and Dong Hua.
I watched up to Episode 48, raw, didn't understand a word. Since they changed the part where Xiao Jiu wasn't given to Qing Ti as a wife like in the book, did Aranya really marry Shen Ye's master in the drama? I hope not.
So was Aranya's death the same as the book? It was so sad. So Aranya sacrificed herself to protect the valley? Why did her parents hate her so much again?
