True, nowadays there are too many gimmicks with reviews and viewer count for anything online. I'm not sure how many of them know but most of the Chinese know that this was based on a manhua, it's pretty hard not to come across that pc of info when you're following the show. Omg, you should see some of the 'ratings' they've given, it's so obvious they're those toxic fans it's laughable! They'll say the the lead actors have no chemistry, complaining abt the age gap, their appearance, acting skills, plot and all, and then end it with, 'the only thing worth watching was our lovely/pretty ZLS -_-! Some even say that if ZLS played Chang Ge it'd have saved the show. SMH.

I was a little disappointed in his remarks but, to be fair, I do think he was teasing. I don't think he realised at the time that she was sensitive abt it. Idk if it was the same interview but I saw a video where he said that she was actually pretty slim(or light in weight, forgot which one). Also that the princess carry had many takes so he got tired, whic is understandable. Maybe things got lost in translation over the internet and got blown out of proportion. (I'm a LeoReba shipper though!)

Ok, long post here, lol.

I've only seen snippets of the show and don't have any interest in it as it's not my kinda thing. I don't like overly cutesy characters and the girl forever chasing after the guy. Also, I didn't like Dijun's look(imo, white hair and the historical look doesn't suit him). I decided to challenge myself and to get a more fair comparison of LeoReba's interactions, so I checked out Leo+Zhang ZiFeng, Reba+Vengo and Reba+BinBin. So, here's my take:

Leo+ZFF: Bcuz he has a naturally intense gaze, I'm not going to base off of that for any of his co-stars. He seemed like he was keeping a professional attitude with her, their interactions felt a bit awkward at times and friendly at other times. ZFF looked more awkward towards him than vice versa.

Reba+BinBin: They seemed more like friends, and Reba doesn't seem like his type according to the answers he gave during interviews abt the kinda girl he likes. Their personalities feel more matching as friends. (I saw him with Jing Tian and oh wow, while I'm indifferent abt them, it looked to me like he has feelings for her. The energy they had while they did the 'building sweep' reminded me of LeoReba.)

Reba+Vengo: Now, this one I can finally get why a lot of ppl ship irl after watching their videos. It's apparent they both feel quite comfortable with each other, and it makes sense cuz I read that they've known each other for some time now. Personally, he is a little old for her, but 10 years isn't crazy either and someone said she has mentioned before that she liked that 'older guy' type(tho she as also said that she likes many types, lol. Idk if this girl is deliberately trying to confuse us so we can't guess for sure. But, tbh, I like many types too :P And a lot of the times, my history and interaction with their personality can make me fall for someone who isn't even my top fave type).
She's also said that she doesn't want to answer too definitively as, "who know, maybe a few years later she'd announce her relationship with someone 10 yrs younger, then that'd be embarrassing"(her words, and this was during an interview after or while she was filming TLB, I blve).
In my perspective, and this is all conjecture, I feel like he likes her or, at the most, both have varying levels of feelings for each other but haven't acted on it.

I think the strongest ships for Reba are with Vengo and Leo. She can be a little girl with both of them. V seems more like the calm and paternal type who'd sometimes entertain her with little games or smile at her antics. Leo's a double whammy, he seems to be quite mature, despite his age, and is able to join in her antics. I think it's this point makes him such a popular choice amongst onlookers for Reba. Both guys give her a feeling of safety. The edge that Leo has imo, is that he can keep up with her, which keeps things interesting for such a bubbly personality as her.

Anyway, it's all up to them and God/the Universe, we can just speculate. I wish them all happiness and the best on their journey!

Shipping is fun and bittersweet, and gosh darn, probably honed a lot of deduction and observation skills in shippers xD

Because I wanted to have a more fair look on Reba and Leo, I actually watched some of Leo's interactions with ZZF and, while trying to maintain an unbiased view, I felt that they were kind of stiff/awkward with each other, esp ZZF's demeanor towards him. Leo seemed like he was keeping a colleague-like or friendly attitude to her. I don't think it's fair to judge Leo's feelings towards any of his co-stars based on his gaze bcuz he has this naturally intense look in his eyes, you have to see his other actions and behaviour.

Yes, so glad more ppl gave this show a chance! You're right abt HaoYan fans, the GeSun fans hang out in the douban groups, I think there are only 2. One's for the drama and the other's for LeoReba shipping(but is a closed group to keep out the toxic fans). One thought I have abt the hate-ratings, we all know everyone has their prefs and that TLB has its flaws but, compared to all Cdramas, it's actually one of the better ones, so anyone with an ounce of a brain who's checked out the show would know that giving it 1/5 stars is utterly ridiculous and obviously with hidden agendas. 3/5 stars would make more sense if the viewer had no bias against the actors. Those antis are so consumed with their hatred that they don't even care if they're being glaringly obvious smh. One thing I've learnt from this is to check out a show even if it has a low rating, as long as the synopsis intrigues you ofc.

Oh my gosh! Really??! wowww! The K2 was actually my first glimpse of JCW(I still think he suits action and serious dramas best, I don't think he's got the romcom style right, there's something abt his expressions that doesn't portray goofiness well. maybe he just needs more practice...), so maybe I'm kinda biased with the ship...I did check out The Healer but...idk, didn't really like either of the MCs personalities.

Ok, I have LOADS of ships (Western, Chinese, Korean), so, just for fun, I wanna see if we have one more in common, lol. Do you know Park Jinyoung(from Got7)? Who's your fave ship for him? What about for Park Seo Joon?

Ah, yes, I felt that ZBB had lots of on-screen chemistry with her in Ru Ge(Immortal Flame, or Immortal Daughter? The one with 4 colors in one poster). Off-screen, not nearly as much as with Leo. One of the reasons why I feel that Leo is her BEST acting partner so far is cuz he seems to GET her. She has a kooky side to her that he parries well, and is incredibly fast at keeping up a convo with her. I think all her co-stars were nice and kind to her but Leo's the only one who matches her vibe and tempo, and even able to catch her off-guard with a comment or joke, in a good way. I actually shipped her with Deng Lun previously, then it was Huang JingYu, but now Leo's blown everyone into the water. (to anyone who disagrees, pls know that this is merely my opinion).

I think more Cnets are liking and loving them more as compared to before. A bunch of them admitted to being skeptical abt the age gap last year when the drama was announced but have now completely fallen for the pairing. They tend to fan over GeSun and LeoReba on bilibili and douban groups, and you'll find more HaoYan fans on weibo. (apparently, from the comments on bilibili, HaoYan fans were being toxic towards LeoReba fans and the drama on weibo).

True. It should be like a forum thread, idk why ppl aren't using the forums tho. Maybe cuz the comments section is more accessible?

SAME. They didn't shake the camera too much either, I find that some shows shake and cut scenes abruptly too much and it feels kinda like a cheap trick. The action scenez in TLB are worth rewatching!

There are only 2 male actors in Asian dramas, so far, that have won me over with their historical/warrior outfits AND long hair. 1st one was Gong Yoo in The Goblin, and the 2nd is our Leo Wu in this drama!! Never have I gushed so much in my head over a GUY with long hair, lol. Leo's deep gaze is one of his killing parts and makes him look more mature, which works soooo well for his role.

I'd much rather they keep things safe than to have it embroiled in controversy and getting cancelled over trifling things, like what happened to Joseon Exorcist. Like, hello, these are tv shows, what part of FICTIONAL do you not get?? It's not a 'documentary'! smh

I, too, don't really have any fondness for the Reba x Vengo ship, but mostly bcuz it's a preference. I've got nothing against him(tho that 'heavy' comment is a little disappointing). Some ppl don't ship Reba x Leo, so I also understand it's cuz everyone has their preferences :) Like, I know JiChang Wook'smost popular ship is with Park MinYoung but, for me, it's Yoona. To each their own, I guess?

Oh, loll, same here! I normally like to wait until a drama's finished airing so I don't have to wait, and Cdramas usually fail to sustain my interest, but TLB has defied in both instances!! It's warming to see everyone hanging out here and boosting this wonderful drama. P.S. The OST is amazing, too! I saw a bts video and it made me appreciate the music on a deeper level.
