A major flaw that prevented me from enjoying it (not the ending).

Very good production with well-rounded secondary characters whose actions create a climate of verisimilitude. It is one of the few cases of Japanese BL in which there is family, friends with families, neighbors with families, in general there is life. This, combined with the pleasant acting of the protagonists and the optimistic color palette of the scenes, creates a complete, pretty and satisfying work.

THE PROBLEM NOW:

You choose as a plot twist the idea that "I like my sister's boyfriend" and you manage it within this framework of the "tight" social group in such a lighthearted way?!!! Especially in JBL where if you say "good morning" to someone they jump up to the ceiling and scream, the fact that you flirt with the possibility of hurting your sister's feelings causes a simple discomfort? And even worse, when you learn that this was all a misunderstanding, you just say "really?" and move on? Honestly, with this idea, you have the ability to build a very meaningful story about family and love, and you choose such a weak reaction? But that's exactly what the whole story is. All the tension and confrontation could be built right there. Unfortunately, both the confession and the revelation are as intense as making an appointment at the dentist. Too bad.

What makes it more evident is the (positive) fact that we see a functional family with different characters and approaches, but which at its base has love. We see friends and neighbors operating with kindness and politeness, We see a management of sexual orientation with seriousness and empathy. All of this is WONDERFUL... and at the same time multiplies the problem I mentioned.

Take "Unknown" (2024) as a good example for these cases.

This small but hugely important detail completely threw me off the otherwise very well-crafted and beautiful work.
