Kinda agree but I would love to see LJG in a romance melodrama or rom com. He's hasn't done anything that doesn't…
That's interesting to hear that he's been typecast. I just recall him saying that the rom/com would have to be better than My Girl (which he was 2nd lead in ) and nothing that good came his way which I guess is true if he's not getting those offers anyway.

I get what you are saying. With the exception of Criminal Minds and Two Weeks, there is usually an aspect of romance in his dramas. However, you are absolutely right that he doesn't just go for the rom/com and rom/melos. Really, I think it can be hard to guess which scripts will work and I'm gonna just say it...I think he thinks they are boring. But I would so watch him in a romance drama, even a mediocre one.
I was surprised in episode 6 that the lead couple had sex and not necessarily based on romantic love but rather two people comforting each other and liking each other and maybe hoping for more. I have a few hundred k-dramas under my belt, and I don't think I've seen this portrayed before. Maybe this is a difference a male writer has versus a female writer?? I actually originally thought they were rushing the relationship which might be true if it was some romance drama, but it actually ended up working for me here.
Oh and that judge with the car....woah. Don't diss daddy.
I like the action/comedy/legal/romance fun of this drama. In the hands of a less talented PD, the tone could be all over the place, but I find it somewhat seamless (though not perfect) moving from scenes of melancholy to humor. The writer also wrote Remember: Sons War so I was worried about LL being a serious melo and those aren't my thing....and who wants to see 16 episodes of LJG in tears so I'm happy about the vibe of this show.
This is going to be one single story not individual stories only one case. Nothing official but I've heard that…
Not every drama is everyone's cup of tea and it's totally fine if this isn't your thing. What you don't like is actually what I like. I don't want to see a lot of different court cases because I actually don't want them to be in the courthouse all that often because that is where most legal dramas become ridiculous, not only in Asian dramas but Western tv as well.
So the more action and shenanigans outside the courthouse the better for me, but sure....different strokes.
Why the hell is Yi xin treated so well in this show? I can't believe the evil bitch got a happy ending with evil…
The cast was great. I loved Janine Chang in Sunny Happiness with Mike He. Here all she gets to do is mope and have crying eyes. Also, I still don't get the whole wedding thing either. Then again, I was skipping like crazy so maybe that explains it. Anyway, never again. I got taken by the chemistry of the leads but I'm gonna drop like a hot potato next time I think a drama is going this way.
I've wasted too much time on this drama to do a full review so I'm just gonna say skip this one people. I would rate it a 4.5 almost entirely based on the chemistry of the two leads and some minor characters as well. I know the c-dramas are bad with the filler but this was just godawful ridiculous. Normally I would have dropped because I don't hate watch, but I actually thought it was supposed to be 36 episodes and, by the time, I figured out I was wrong I just decided to keep skipping through to the end.
So, yeah, skip this one and to the drama production team, get a makeup person that knows how to blend makeup because the poor lead actor was not taken care of very well in this show and it was actually so bad, it was disconcerting to watch.
Anyway, there was a somewhat solid start to a drama that probably should have been no more than 16 or so episodes (k-drama style) but was 46. Yikes.
I kind of stalled around episode 4, not because I didn't like it but rather just concerned because the T-dramas have gone down hill in quality imo. Specifically, too much filler and nonsense, so I wanted to let more of the drama get released and read reviews so I'm happy that the story is still working out and will jump back into this one this summer.
Yes, it's gonna be partly a rant comment, so you've been warned. Why does HJE always have to play loud, clueless,…
She definitely was good in Secret and I don't think she played the same in Lucky Romance (which was a weird drama from the concept). However, I do think she is being typecast because of the success of her character portrayal of Heal Me Kill Me and then She Is Pretty. Ifans might have been annoyed by her in these dramas, but Kfans seem to like her like this.
I think the same of Siwon who plays to type in King of Dramas and She Is Pretty but then it goes awry a bit because the wacky character and tone of the drama didn't work as well in Revolutionary Love. Or Ha Suk Jin playing the chaebol/rich man/tsundere type character in three dramas in a row.
Basically I think they have issues being typecast because if the director wants her to chill, I imagine she would.
She gives him a chance after he says he loves her around episode 18 so I guess that would be the starting point of her giving him a chance. If she started liking him before, we really don't see it; again mostly bickering but they do have great chemistry. When the drama starts, they've already been married 2 years. This is a big complaint of viewers.
I really like both the Chinese and Korean versions of Scarlet Heart: I think the C-drama did the politics way better (well, it is about 6 hours longer) but the romance got me more in the K-drama. About the book, I've heard the big difference is the ending. Neither C nor K drama had the ending the book had....or so I've heard.
also, if anyone wants to know why they broke up. according the novel, her sister was suicidal after confessing…
Thanks for the additional insight. I think commenters on Viki are upset because they still don't understand what happened in the past. I think the pacing of this drama is all off and it probably could have been done much better with half the episodes and just moving things along a bit quicker.
The synopsis is quite unhelpful. This is basically a second chance at love type drama as best I can tell. I wish they'd not spent 8 episodes on the foundation of the story because I see enough failed relationships in real life but interested in how it goes from here. Usually, in dramas it's how the couple get together so we'll see how they learn from what went wrong and see what happens.
This drama is ridiculous the reason it’s been taking so long to air is because Ma tian yu is no longer the lead…
I read the article, and basically this is censorship. I find it most interesting that the incest stuff (faux or real) isn't the problem but rather the guy is in a triad.
End result is going to be a mess but I don't think fans should gang up on Wallace Chung; not his fault. I do wonder if the production knew about the issue with SARFT, why not change that aspect of the story before beginning production?
