A Good Drama, But Not One I'd Recommend
The first thing that stood out to me about this drama was the way it started. Personally, I didn’t like it at all. It was vague, ambiguous, and just didn’t pull me in. I even considered dropping it after the first episode. Maybe it’s just personal preference, but I don’t enjoy the interview/documentary-style format. I would have much preferred a more traditional approach that focused on the main characters’ lives directly.Another issue I had was the pacing. I like getting a detailed view of the main character’s life, but it felt like the story was unnecessarily stretching out side characters' arcs, making them feel like filler or side quests before returning to the main plot. That being said, I did like the three main male characters. While Park, the protagonist, was struggling with alcoholism and an inability to move on, his cousin Choi was the complete opposite—innocent, loyal, and unwavering in his love for one girl throughout the show. Choi also had a noble personality, though both of them felt almost too love-struck at times. Kang, on the other hand, was probably the most chill and well-balanced character. He handled his relationships and friendships well, and even at the end, he stayed cool and decisive, which I really respected.
The female characters, however, were a different story. The main female lead didn’t sit well with me. Sure, she had her struggles, but nothing justified how she treated Park. It felt like she drained all his love and energy to heal herself, only to leave him behind in pieces. She saw and heard his pain for a year, yet did nothing. Seo Rin was another frustrating character. Maybe she was just living life the way she wanted, but it felt like she was constantly using that as an excuse to avoid responsibilities and reality. I honestly felt bad for her boyfriend. Oh Sun, on the other hand, while a little crazy, was probably one of the more realistic characters in the drama.
All in all, it wasn’t a bad show. If you enjoy melodramatic romance dramas, you might like it. But for me, while it had its moments, I wouldn’t personally go out of my way to recommend it.
