Everything I Hoped For ✨
I want to start by talking about my expectations because this was one of the K-dramas I had been looking forward to the most. The premise immediately caught my attention, and I was really interested in the story it wanted to tell.
The concept itself isn’t completely new. We’ve seen spirits, curses, and supernatural themes in many dramas before. However, I took my time watching it instead of rushing through it, and I’m glad I did.
I really liked both the main characters and the supporting cast. The story was engaging, and every episode gave me a reason to keep watching because something interesting was always happening.
The chemistry between the leads was also great. Somehow, it’s always the “wrong” genres that end up having the best chemistry!
The production quality is outstanding. The visual effects, the OST, the cinematography, the sets, and the overall atmosphere were all fantastic. There’s honestly very little to criticize in that aspect. I was also impressed by Roh Yoon Seo’s performance. Together with Nam Joo Hyuk, they carried this drama beautifully.
The drama is classified as historical, action, fantasy, and horror. Whether it’s actually scary depends on the viewer. Personally, I’m used to much stronger horror, so while there were some creepy scenes, I didn’t find it particularly frightening.
There were also a few things that took me a while to understand, and I have to admit I was pretty confused at times! Still, that didn’t stop me from enjoying the overall experience.
Overall, I wasn’t disappointed at all. My only real complaint is that eight episodes weren’t enough—I would have loved a few more. I really hope this drama returns someday because I would happily watch another season.
