Ep 32- Loved how the old mentality clashed with the new thinking :) Jutjang and Panghom also have the bro sis…
LOL. As you said Pang is somewhat the overbearing mother. The bad cop. The children are forced to lie to her and Chut knows this. She really respects his decisions though. In one of the earlier episodes they discussed their roles and parenting methods.
As you said, the family dynamic is amazing. Earth and Ice have as much respect for Chutjen and Pang as they would for their own parents. Jut and Panghom feel as if they are really bro and sis. Earth and Jut have a friendship that feels organic. They may have social/ family psychologists on retainer when writing episodes!
The reactions to situation, as the abortion and Stephen's coming out feel real. The callbacks to the original is just lovely.
I am thoroughly enjoying it more than I thought I would!
Ep 31: 1. Did they really have to use CPR as a punchline? 2. Just tell Top what's up. It will hurt less now…
What I now realise too is the old one used the same theme song. That story was about Chutjen trying to woo Pang and having her parents right there. They just modernised the theme with Jutjang and Earth! And brought in the new characters like Panghom! Amazing!
Ep 31: 1. Did they really have to use CPR as a punchline? 2. Just tell Top what's up. It will hurt less now…
1. CPR seems like a life saver to us, but for the punchline it was meant as a kiss. Even when teaching CPR we get the comments about kissing and such.
2. Ice doesn't really know where she and Jutjang are at. She has agreed to be his GF but seems to still be on shakey ground. I think Top would have been her BF if he did not get in the fight with Earth and Jut.
3. We in the west would have done that, but Thai (and Asian) culture is way to polite, especially at seeing that she was older.
4. He never said he wasn't supportive. This is actually one of the reasons I love the show: not all situations are black and white. We all have our personal prejudices and private thoughts and conflicts on situations we support a certain way. It is much more realistic that Chutjen would have internal conflict over this than just, as other one-shot dramas have you believe, "O my son is gay and loves a boy. Great! I got a son-in-law!" He was very supportive of Stephan being gay, but privately he and Pang still made fun of it as would happen in real life, if even to just blow of steam at an uncomfortable subject.
Further to 4. he is still trying to be very open minded about the situation. Many parenting guides will tell you it is better to not be in eye contact to talk about certain things. Some suggest that it is easier to talk in a car, for instance, than at a table. I can tell you from experience that that is true with friends, me not being a parent. The blog and P'Vader is just a modern take and extension of that.
I can also imagine from a cultural perspective that Chut would want grand children. Jut has always shown signs of liking girls and still does. Earth could just be a passing feeling. Chut is just hoping to push Jut back into that mode.
The amazing thing is the writers/ producers have set up a nice arc. The Earth-Jut story will transcend the entire series. The smaller stories are just that: smaller stories. As the product life-cycle if falling, they drop and episode like 31 to remind the viewers of the overall arch. It is quite a good strategy. So far it is very interesting. It helps show many more dynamics of Thai society and life than a one shot drama could. I say leave it for now. At the beginning I thought this would just be some stupid Asian slap stick comedy. Instead it is quite an exposition on Thai life. Hell, it's way more interesting than anything we have in the West right now!
Ep6. OMG. Poor Book. And pushing away Frame :( Fuse needs to get his s&*( together! Dude it's one or…
Yok's mom paid her to be his GF. There was a scene in S1 where Yok's mom met her outside the bathroom at the mall and propositioned her. That's the reason she left Mo. Heartless bastard. I like Mo of all the characters. Always upbeat and such a good, supportive friend...
Now I like Bang Rak Soi 9/1 because each episode tells a stand alone story, but still plays itself into several arcs and the main.
I followed Kiss which was jus ...
I liked Part Time because it had amazing character development and substance.
Why is this even more draggy than Senior Secret Love Puppy Honey 2?
9 episodes in and only now some formulation of a plot!!!

Jutjang and Panghom also have the bro sis teasing thing down :)

Need a Pt3, or series adaptation for the other characters.

Hope this does not end the careers of the actors...
