I LOVE historical detective dramas... but this one is Chinese and I'm VERY skeptical about whether or not ALL the heroes stay alive... China is obsessed with killing off its main leads so going to have to wait and see how things end before I start watching this...

This show would've been better if Aoki was not an insecure dumbass
I don't know if he was "insecure dumbass" but 99% of the complications were Aoki's fault... but then again this show needed it... if Aoki hadn't been who he was the show would have effectively ended after episode 2 :P

Started out great but was a bit disappointed with the series towards the end.. Actors are great but storyline…
yeah that's what I thought too... for a show that is surprisingly uncomplicated there was just too much complication... Even the love triangle turned out to be a mistake but they just kept getting together and breaking up throughout the entire show b/c "reasons" -.-

So many misunderstandings. but it was cute! no evil female character, no homophobia from main characters, great friendships, very minimal drama. Japan keeps hitting it out of the park with their BLs

On Sayonara, Enari-kun Dec 10, 2021
Such a waste of time... A tv show about an emotionally stunted girl running around trying to find love... she just seems to be going through these poor men (she doesn't run into a single man that she doesn't fall in love with, if its a man with a pulse you can bet she is ready to date him) and instead of dealing with the faults of flaws of these men she says "Sayonara, Enari-kun" ... smdh... The show tries to make her the victim of these men, but its the men that I feel sorry for...the synopsis was so misleading...

Interesting read but heavily biased and shows very little understanding of the fluidity and subjectivity of dramas and movies and genres in general... your article gives context on how to watch historical non-fiction, and ONLY historical non-fiction ... Alot people watch fiction FOR the escapism and many people watch period dramas for the period setting (i.e. the costume, the environment, etc.,) not for the practicality and realism... in fact I don't watch non-fiction period dramas/historical dramas. Dramas like Detective Dee series or Detective K are set in the Joseon period would you claim people who watch those are watching for realism and practicality? Your points are valid purely for historical non-fiction. Even Moon Lovers which you claim is historically accurate is a fantasy drama and most people are watching it for the romance not the "practicality and realism"... to claim historical accuracy just because a drama incorporates historical characters or events and behaviors/social norms shows very little understanding. Empress Ki and Moon Lovers are VERY different dramas and occupy vastly different spheres/ genres... just because MDL tags both of Moon Lovers and Empress Ki as Historical doesn't mean they are even remotely similar. MDL genre tags are merely guides of overarching themes... Your article has missed recognizing the subtleties between the two dramas and subtle nuances in the the whole genre...

The "plot twist" was not as twisty as I thought it was going to be... they could have made it so that she was crazy and the she imagined everything, or that she was greedy for the money and killed the step dad for the money...
