I don't really consider her weak whether in the novel or drama because to me, someone as weak is like literally unable to help anyone, always need someone to save her, always rely on someone to solve her problems and help her succeed etc.

However, she makes up for it with her knowledge of the novel plot and her determination, bravery and resilience whenever the situation calls for it makes her an asset to the team.

In the novel, he also seems to do alot of things for his sister including things that he knows his sister disapprove like using the reserve tailsman behind her back, he wasn't ashamed of using such methods as long as it gives the results he wanted. That was also a part where he test his sister one last time and when he see that his sister is like everyone else (who's afraid of him, he remember miaomiao words about the cat and tiger), his sort of dismissively treat his sister the same as everyone else and quickly move his affections to miaomiao (the only one who's not afraid of him). The changes they made in the drama is kinda refreshing to see, the siblings relationship with his sister remains and his not like overly obsessive over miaomiao that he must have her, he respect her decisions even though he was hurt by her and actions. He didn't mind control her to like and marry him in order to get her to stay with him forever.
