An open-ending could have worked with any other drama but NOT this one. Why? Because he spent the ENTIRE drama waiting for Din to appear and waiting to get back together with him. So leaving it with an open ending is redundant. -
In any event, I could have still accepted the ending if they at-least allowed them to have even ONE conversation after he found out his identity. One passionate conversation where Din explains his actions to Ken and where they talk about how they felt or something. - We spent the entire series watching and waiting for them to connect and we got nothing. What a waste.
The pacing in the beginning (episodes 1 -4) is just terrible in my opinion. From day 1 they showed us this weak ping pong player. His team said he was weak, his mom said he was weak and even he had no confidence skills. - The writers spent the entire time convincing us he was a weak player and we could see that through the lousy games he played at the regional training. His scores were also lower than almost everyone throughout training. - Then out of the blue they mention that he’s rising up the ranks. Why didn’t they SHOW us any of that progress?
All of a sudden he’s in the top 3 best players at the training camp and he’s made the national team? Out of nowhere? Where was the build up? They showed us a few lousy games he played but never showed us his progress, they never showed us any improvement. They simply TOLD us he’s rising up the ranks and we’re just supposed to out of nowhere accept that he’s made the national team? Huh? - And yeah, I get that he got 4 extra points from exams but he had also lost some when he left the training grounds to search for his friend so that wasn’t a convincing situation to push him to the top 3 ranking either in my opinion. - They really could have done a better job of building him up in our eyes because all I saw was him working really hard but I never SAW the pay off. Anyway… that’s my little rant for now. I’m now moving into episode 8 and I’m hoping we actually get to SEE improvement . - I know it’s still too early to judge but this has been bothering me so much that I had to get it off my chest.
You know what I dislike about this drama? The fact that these two ADULTS can't just open their mouths and say what's on their minds. I could understand it at first but the fact that this is dragging on for so long is getting ridiculous. Nine episodes in and they haven't had a single meaningful conversation. Come on!
The issue with this drama is that they've drawn it out for too long so it gets boring after a while and you just want it to end already...at least thats how it is for me.
Slow-paced, mature, romantic drama that was at times exciting, at times sweet and at times boring. No annoying love rivals and no frustrating misunderstandings. In my opinion it was pretty good. not amazing though.
I've dropped this drama 6 times. SIX!! I just cant seem to get into it and I don't know why. I love gaming dramas and I don't mind that it has no romance. I really want to watch and enjoy it but there's something about it that just bores me. Am I the only one experiencing this?
I'm still going to keep trying because I genuinely want to see why everyone loves it so much but it's a task!

1. All the fight scenes are incredibly underwhelming.
2. Male lead always has someone coming to his rescue, and he mostly just stands and watches them fight for him.
3. Despite his so-called great skills, we never got to see his true potential.
4. Ends on a cliff hanger.
Pros:
1. Smart male lead,
2. entertaining plot,
3. interesting characters.
It was a pretty good drama and certainly worth the watch.
