What we witnessed is still uncertain because gwi nam was literally melted while cheong-san wasnt so he could be alive and as you say badly damaged i believe it will recover since he is hambie why am i telling hambie its because he was bitten and if he he fought gwi nam and lured zombies if he was to become zombie he would have become in seconds or most probably in 2-3 minutes so hambie has healing powers and they are much stronger than we have seen in season 1 so have hope he is alive and returning

As per current progress it has a very high chance to come in 2024 before February
