It's look like our ML willing to be cuckold by his own brothersπ€£
Dude I am STILL trying to grasp my head around that scene π€£ Like he SAW her deliberately seducing his brother, recognized it was absolutely her, saw his brother trying to hold back.... and then was like "oh well, I like her, she can do whatever she wants I guess??? π€£" But then he makes that statement when dude tries to warn him about her that "he can give his brother anything but the FL" like it's HIM trying to go after HER π π€‘.
i'm on episode 9 currently and i really hope the drama keeps up the quality, it might become one of my fav short…
So far the only "complaint" is the CGI in one of the later episodes π - I don't want to spoil it but I honestly felt like we have better cgi actions and effects on our free to use cell phone video editing apps π
The wayshe throw gold back into river... ππ€£π
I'm watchpartying it and we BOTH laughed our butts off at that scene! H:"Yes.... threw away the gold π€£" M:"Gonna catch a man this time?" ( 2 seconds later... catching "a man" π€£) H:"biggest fish yet" M:"Definitely better than gold..... well he's poor in the future so maybe keep both?" π yes..... let me stay here and kiss him for a while.... I mean "breathe for him underwater" H: she had her reasonsπ€£
at moment.. main couple romance? love triangle? sml obsessed for fl?thanks
Now through 18. 1. This show is going to have the romance "reset" in a way a couple times throughout. Overall it's been strong. Through the ep 12 i was originally at was present day "beginning" storyline and they made their romance believable that they could be falling for each other. Currently the storyline is in past events and how they met the 1st time and again, the romance is so far slow and believable.
2. No Love Triangles (so far) for ML/FL in past or present times. 2nd "CP" is a "triangle" - Present day 2FL is engaged but used to be in relationship with 2ML. Past for them haven't seen yet.
3. "Technically" π one of the guys is obsessed with her in present timeline but it's more proving she's a Ji and not that he's "obsessed lusting" .
Who was worse, ML or FL?Not sure, but I think maybe FL, and I'll spoiler why below.....
I watched this as it was airing, rewatching scenes and episodes multiple times. I was a bit obsessed and I like that you had the bravery to try and put these thoughts into order because I agree with a lot of the statements you made. She is definitely a VERY messed up character, fully and completely willing to use him, profess her love for him, and then drop him and deliberately try and make him misunderstand her relationship with Zhao Ming.
She shuts down once the order is given for him to marry Zhao Li and they never have another "real" conversation again until they're discussing her possibility of leaving with the baby. She has opportunities to ask him for HIS side of the story and not trust some random jealous woman.
From that first scene where he's pointing the sword at her during the massacre he tells her that she doesn't even know who her enemy IS. She looks at him and hatred grows as she decides HE is the enemy, but yes, while he stood back and could have helped and didn't that doesn't mean HE killed her family.
She also time and again uses all her knowledge about him and his past traumas against him. She knew about his dead mother and repeatedly brought her up in the first part. She could have slowly tried to remove herself from his life but instead she chose to deliberately state she was leaving. Later, when she first tries to end herself she stages the scene for him to walk in on her in the same manner of which he found his mother dead.
On a different note though, I think I saw Zhao Li's last conversation with her slightly differently. You seem to think she was looking for as reason to live, I'm not so sure. She was feeling guilty for being the reason her brother was killed (honestly if anything I wish our clueless FL had realized what everyone was doing and saying behind the scenes because Zhao Li is absolutely the reason Zhao Ming died then.) This girl essentially went "I'm going to make up a story that ML is going to kill FL so that my brother can go save her. Once she's out of the picture she won't be in my way anymore and I'll finally have the ML all to myself". BUT that's obviously not what happened so she's in front of the FL trying to get an answer from her on "what to do" but if you rewatch the scene, Zhao Li basically isn't paying attention to what's being said to her, she's just responding on automatic. Basically there is no living well going forward for her. Her reality is that the man she was engaged to, killed her brother, because SHE told a half-truth to get what she wanted.
Overall I loved this show, even with its flaws at the end (and that fever dream of a last episode I just watched π€£). I personally loved the intricate politics and the slow romance. I do feel though that it's almost like there were supposed to be MORE episodes than we got. In a few places the editing was too choppy and like they were a erasing out plot points to make it shorter. A few deaths had very unsatisfactory surrounding footage and/or no consequences; some characters seemed to flip a switch out off screen to change direction without a proper explanation, and notably but not spoilery, a scene where the ML leaves the group to meet with the Emperor goes LITERALLY nowhere and has zero purpose. It's just a guess but I'd say there "probably" should have been 5-10 more episodes worth of scenes and story to truly make this Top Teir storywise.
So I came and ask about secondary couples around two weeks and only one secondary couple the friend of ML and…
π€£ Having finished the show it ends with 3 couples. ML/FL Situ Haonan/Nangong Qian Qian (Friend/Princess) Baili Weisheng/Xiao Sheng (The "bountyhunter" duo)
It's not about tragic ending ! But what about junbuyi and others after the war ?? It's incomplete ending
So I don't personally see any of their storylines as incomplete since both couples BEFORE the war were told "hey, you're all happy and your lives are just beginning now so DON'T follow us to war in case something happens. Then, after everything reverts, they all come running out towards the two of them laying on the ground crying out so it becomes obvious that they lived through the events (in case we hadn't kept up with the back and forth camera actions they were doing showing us their movements.)
But "essentially" none of that mattered anyway once she woke up because "it was a dream" and not a real place.... they couldn't take us (the audience) back to a dream world they'd already dissolved to show us the other characters, idk, mourning (assumedly) the Prince and (definitely) the Princess.
Watched 12 episodes out so far and LOVING it. Though I will say the 1st episode threw me for a loop as I was NOT…
First 30ish seconds immediately show the brutal mass murder of her people INCLUDING a child holding out their hand offering them candy...

1 year later... Cuts to obviously enslaved woman being taken somewhere in a forest then cuts to people discussing how the General went to go save the Maids from being hunted (paraphrased). Then shows the women LITERALLY running for their lives, being hunted by the Crown Prince as he and his people shoot at them with arrows. General (ML) comes to intercept. They are chased into a cave where the FL does something with her bracelet that makes the CP see something and his eyes bleed as he hallucinates a demon...
Watched 12 episodes out so far and LOVING it. Though I will say the 1st episode threw me for a loop as I was NOT expecting it to go that dark. But once past that episode it's back to being "normal" fantasy/thriller with some comedy (especially in the beginning episodes).
Based on the trailer I'm guessing it's going to get dark again but in case anyone wants to know what happens in 1st ep I'll spoiler the comment.
Strange ending. We spent our time rooting for ML and FL. We saw SML trying to interfere and at the very end, they…
You know I was thinking at the very end, before I even saw the last episode π , that the show had actually put more "romance" between the FL and "2ML" despite all the chemistry, story and "visuals" being given to the "ML" and FL. Then that last episode happens and it's like okay.... so she mourned him for 15 years as his "wife"? π
Just kiss him and go back to reality πLike you're risking to not exist because of some book character, it's…
Yeah... I literally raged against the screen at this as it makes ZERO sense. She would rather DIE herself than have an imaginary character SHE herself created "die". Just wake up and rewrite the story again....
Add in the previous episode doing the "the poison is in her bone marrow but you can try sucking it out" and it's quickly becoming too illogical to fully enjoy any more.
I think ML's friend was allowed to wander around more since he wasn't tied to a specific area in the way the ML…
Hmmmm you might be right there, they just didn't really differentiate the titles too well I guess so my mind went "he's a Marquis, that's also nobility, why's he different π "
This make me want to watch this. I loved princess royals
Lol nah I get it, that was basically me with Dashing Youth. I finally gave up and dropped that one and just watched the clips that came up on YouTube π .
Overall I think I liked this but it definitely felt like it was too long and that's generally something I never say. Hilariously, certain plot points are barely wrapped up or just fully and completely dropped leaving me honestly wondering things like what happened to her porcelain store?, What happened to his sister's family? If ML's friend was head of his family, how was he able to always pick up and wander around like he did since our ML couldn't? Idk, more thoughts honestly but but I'm done writing for now. π€·ββοΈ
But then he makes that statement when dude tries to warn him about her that "he can give his brother anything but the FL" like it's HIM trying to go after HER π π€‘.
H:"Yes.... threw away the gold π€£"
