Not as good as the original, not Becky’s fault

okay I have opinions, some good some critical.

starting with the positive, I think Becky did absolutely amazing. Kitty left really big shoes to fill, and the character was already so established.. But Becky managed to encapsulate that vacant, slightly creepy humor just right. It’s important to note also that nano was a very different character to roles she has played previously, and very different to her usual personality.

Another positive, you can see the improvement in production quality, and each episode provided a slightly different perspective and style.

I personally thought episode 1, 4 and 6 were the best. I liked the underlying messages in these episodes and felt they were a little deeper/ darker than the other episodes.

Now for the criticisms… I feel this season just didn’t quite hit the mark the old series left. it lacked a layer of depth which would have helped the underlying messages hit harder. It needed to be darker, more gruesome, include more taboo themes. As the viewer, the creepy atmosphere and shocking screen play were not up to par.

Overall, I enjoyed watching the series, and especially loved watching Becky as Nano. I also got excited for the guest appearance from Jane. Some of the humour also hit well. but in general, the series was not as good as the original 2 and lacked depth and darkness. This is in no way a criticism or Becky, and more likey a Hollywood style byproduct of having extra budget and a wider audience.
