Hi, I don’t want to do a huge comment about this drama, but I just want to add my POV after seeing the first two episodes. I'm actually a fan of Liaisons Dangereuses, and I really love the story, the complexity of characters (even as despicable as they are, I still like them), and the message. The only problem is I think, even for cinema, it's really hard to adapt this story, because it’s an epistolary novel, which implies the deepest thoughts and personality of the characters when they write. It's not impossible to do (since cinema and TV shows have other forms), but really difficult. It’s the reason why I choose to not see it as an adaptation. I want to try and like it as a whole. Of course, I can see some similarities (the wealthy background with problems which only touch rich people, the love play, the ambiguous relationship between Soo Ji and Shi Hyun, etc.), but it’s still adapted to modern Korean society, so obviously different from the pre-Revolutionary French one. Even more difficult to adapt a scandalous novel to a PG15 Drama without having to do choices. For me it was correct, a bit surprising to see kids, but I was okay with the playing. I just hope the story is well-known, and I’d rather see it as an inspiration from the book than a basic adaptation thinking the only interesting things are the scandal of having sex and taking revenge. It’s much more than that. So I think everybody deserves their own opinion, even if you have read it or not. I saw a reasonable number or Dramas and I never really like the first episodes because it’s always a bit confusing for me as episodes of exposure. Let’s see what it will be.
