Doesn't Reddit hide all comments with a lot of negative points? I can imagine that people would vote any negative…
Like I saw comments where someone has to give a disclaimer on Soompi saying 'please don't hate me but..' or I am not a hater but..' just for wanting to ask about things they were confused about. No wonder people come here expecting little to no criticism for anything they love cause they don't like seeing different opinions. Can't take it that is their biggest weakness.
I didn't know it was that easy to become a writer. I can't believe I gave up so easily. Oh I don't know how to proceed. Who cares jump to the next scene. People will just theorise and fill in the blanks. Boom masterpiece.
I enjoy the passion of the fans, but we are talking about Kim Eun Sook. Someone who majored in creative writing,…
Uh I disagree. I don't think it's all the director's fault. Some blame can indeed be put on the writer and to a less extent the actors. It's also my opinion though. And maybe I am missing something.
I don’t care for like 90 percent of the people in Eternal Monarch including certain main characters. This drama…
It's funny that dramas I didn't have high expectations of like this and Kkondae intern turned out to be good. Anyone who didn't care for either PHJ and HJE were also pleasantly surprised which good i love it when that happens. While one I actually hoped would be better, tkem turned out to disappoint.
Lee Gon lost his mother at the age of three. At eight, he witnessed his father's assassination and nearly got…
That was me. I'll put it here again cause I just deleted all my older comments that were not about the drama itself. Cause I am tired of explaining simple stuff to people. No offense to saner fans but this is why I don't like fan culture tbh cause of toxic fans. I didn't know you have to be a hardcore fan of something/someone to enjoy or critique things. Or that if you are a fan of anyone then you should pretend that they are perfect and can't be critiqued. Of course there are possessive fans who are too harsh on the ones they are a fan of but that's a different discussion. Then there are some on here who actually will themselves make personal remarks against other actors that has nothing to do with their work such as their looks, but at the same time criticise others for being critical of someone's work by acting as if that is an attack on the person and that doesn't make you a true fan or that you are jealous cause your favourite isn't playing the main character or whatever. Maybe hating is that easy for them themselves that's why they judge others like that idk I'll never understand their logic. And as someone who has studied and going to be teaching literature myself some of the comments here make me laugh or wonder at how some people actually think things work. Also this is a comment I won't delete so don't worry. Anyway here it is: https://seoulbeats.com/2017/06/kim-eun-sook-koreas-most-controversial-and-well-known-drama-writer/ I am fine with her thinking to be honest. She knows what her audience wants and gives it to them. But I give her dramas a chance anyway cause it does feel like she does try to apply a little depth but it just feels like now she doesn't let it overtake the kind of storytelling she has decided to write which again fine. But I simply dislike the way she tends to write her female characters but since someone said Mr. Sunshine has strong female characters she must have changed her view a little. So I decided to give this a chance cause I thought well done it could make for a really good drama. But it seems that she still doesn't want her female characters to overtake her male leads. As for writing of this drama itself I have ended up fairly disappointed. Even if you don't developed the plot properly atleast develop the characters so that we have an emotional connection to them. Which is the very thing that drew me towards kdramas in the first place. But here neither the characters are well developed neither the plot. Even my sister who watches only for plot won't be impressed by this drama lol. Which is even more amusing cause in some ways this drama has a lot of kdrama tropes but badly done. (Jealous secondary fl, the way the ml treats the FL, the so-called realistic love story, fate among others) So people saying this is not a typical kdrama makes me go 'what?' cause a lot of stuff in it is exactly like that. Are we even taking about the same drama and writer? The only thing it has going for it is parallel words, doppelgangers and time travel to go along with it which indeed is a bit different. I do think this drama has some merits which made me continue and probably would have if not for the easy hater tag some people seem to put toward anyone who doesn't think exactly like them. Anyway time to add city hall to my to watch list now.
This is not meant as a negative comment just an observation. I don't like theorising too much (personal preference). When it comes to it, it can either lead to disappointment cause you have already figured things out which takes the fun out of it (or you might like it cause you were right) or you are left with theories which turn out to be wrong which also may lead to disappointment. What's important is the fun you have while doing it and discussing with others.
I like this drama but I understand why you might not like it. In TKEM comments section some people are telling others to drop a drama in the first few episodes if they don't like it and here it's the opposite. People should stop telling others how much to watch and what to like or not like.
I’m on the same boat, it’s becoming a chore watching eternal monarch.
Ah yes I agree with you about LMH. Not a fave but I don't dislike him. I liked him in LOBTS, City hunter and Faith, and the character in Personal taste was atleast different from what we are used to seeing from him. I think he's a decent enough actor (bad at crying scenes though). I actually think KGE is comparatively better than LMH in King acting wise. And WDH is a scene stealer in my country and Mad dog. Seems to do well even against other good actors . Anyway thanks for recommending this drama. Just watched the first episode and liked it. Also I have seen two eps of SD1D and a few other people recommended it to me too. I like it so far.
While there isn't a timeline I prefer but I don't really like the leads much in the present as I do I in the past. I am curious what changed them from the past selves to the present, where will they go from there. But I am glad that in ep 8 Ji Soo actually stood up for herself against the others.
Good start. I enjoyed it. I could really feel for the lead when he got humiliated. Did not expect to cry. The old boss made me angry. I loved the humour but the bollywood style advert made me cringe. Two of the dramas I thought would be fun weren't as expected (not that they are bad). But this seems to be exactly what I need.
Edit Ep 10. Ah okay much better. I liked it for the most part. The confrontation between LG and LR felt off last episode but it didn't feel that way this episode. Both JY and ES were again the highlight. Also LMH stepped up his acting. We also got to see more emotions. Especially during scenes not with TE. Ah see that's what I am talking about. KGE seems to be a good crier and here it seemed to be no different. The scene was similar to the one in Goblin. But in Goblin I didn't like the main couple. The age gap and the character made it all shorts of problematic. Yet I cried in that scene. But here I felt apathetic and wondered why she was crying. But as seems to be the pattern they stop at a cliffhanger and take time to get to it the next episode, so maybe we will understand more of why and it will all start to make sense. And good that there wasn't as much PPL. I generally don't care about them but in this one I just laugh it off. But I can understand why it would take others out of the scenes. But I also understand why it's important for them especially considering the ratings. Anyway it might become rushed now but hopefully it will all come together and we will enjoy it more.
Ep 9. Eunsob acting as Young was the most hilarious part of this episode. After the cliffhanger last week I was disappointed cause it didn't live up to the excitement it had caused but um okay.
I came back to see how things were going and to see if I should try to pick it up again (I'm having problems with…
Yes. Honestly I literally decided to see for other reasons and WDH wasn't even one of them but he ended up being the most interesting thing apart from Shin Jae in this drama. I didn't even find him interesting early on and was quiet disappointed, but like as soon as he got the chance WDH is stealing the scenes. I am awed by his acting. He plays both characters so well. Like I have said elsewhere WDH steals the scenes with his acting and KKN with the development. And when they are on screen I barely notice Gon. Even Tae Eul I don't like as much as I did during the early episodes mostly cause her character confuses me.
The drama just keeps me hooked despite a lot of unlikable characters. The episodes are too long yet the drama is so intense that sometimes you don't even notice.
