Seriously some people act as if Asians are exempt from being racist or violent come on. I live in an Asian country and as true it is that parents hit their children here there are plenty of criticisms against that in Asian countries itself. I mean Racism is wrong, hitting your child is wrong etc even in Asian countries. Just because such things are normal in Asian dramas doesn't mean that all Asians are okay with it lol.
I belong to one such country and trust me such things are no longer considered okay by many in even Asian countries. If anything it's you who is looking at it from that viewpoint. We aren't talking customs and eating habits we are talking things that negatively affect people. Just because it happens in Asian countries does not mean it would stop negatively affecting children.
I just don't understand this behaviour either.. this show is on the verge of ending with just 6 episodes remaining..…
Why the hell was there a need to even bring that up? What is there to laugh about? If anything this kind of behaviour only proves my point. Right my bad don't feed the trolls.
I am sure that is cause people are confusing Korean age with international age.
True but even then they would have to be 19 in international age to be considered adults in Korea. And if people (international audience) want to consider their laws (Korean) then that's why they also find that a problem.
Yeah, quite a lot of complaints, but to be fair... Over 1.7 million viewers per episode and there are six of them,…
I never get why fans insist on hating on actors/ actresses piting them against each other even if they themselves get along. I mean if they have something against the agency doesn't mean they should have something against the actresses. Is that what they consider being a true fan?
Thanks for your opinion. The racism issue is still not solved. The whole "do not touch my boyfriend" is actually…
Look that comment was more to get out of having to make any argument but that's why I deleted it. This one isn't meant to mock 'you'. If anything yours is the nicest response I had got.

Ah if only it were the drama's only fault. Also I have gotten so used to the nice male leads as opposed to the jerk ones they I don't even care much for this gender reversal. Also dramas have a way of disappointing me every time I think this one will be different. As for the racism they should have gone another route entirely. Anyway it's no use the drama has already left a bad taste in my mouth for more than just it's contents.
You know I learnt a lot from this comment section. I would like to thank everyone here. I learnt that in trying to point out other people's hypocrisy how some here showed their own. How their actions prove opposite to their own beliefs whole they try to point out that of others. I learnt how even people who love this drama contradict each other when they agree with others over something and also themselves in their views and don't even realize it actually showing the flaws in their own logic. For example is this drama something that would be appreciated more by those who watch western shows as one person said or the opposite as said by another? Showed how some people who have nothing to their arguments use attacks or false equivalence and strawmen arguments thinking that they have won the argument. But the biggest thing I learnt is to confront my own hypocrisy my own beliefs. For example I have watched so many dramas work older men and younger women but always avoid noona romance cause they explicitly touch on these topics and they made me uncomfortable so I am adding many of those in my watchlist. And that's not the only example of things I added because I realise that indeed there are times I contradict myself. I also learnt how to and how not to argue. The comments here made me learn new things and educate myself over a lot of topics and also confront my own beliefs which might be wrong. I learnt to trust myself more and who to or who not to trust. So did all this change my view about this drama? It did. I now realise it's far worse than I have it credit for. I learnt how far some people can go in trying to defend things and try to literally gaslight others and the consequences of even my own actions. So thank you for this learning experience.
I do not think that there is anything wrong with pointing the bad things of this drama. People also have the right…
It's been done all you need to do is read the arguments made on IC. It was quite polarising too go check the comments out. Other sites had such arguments too btw if youd like to take that into account. I know cause I was one of those people caught in it. Pointing out its flaws is warranted and I did that for both. Also how will the dramas improve if the faults aren't pointed out? It reminds me of how some thought others were trying to sabotage TKEM too that wasn't some low budget drama doing okayish.

Still it's not an excuse for the problematic things themselves. I could do the same but well get no where with the arguments without taking into account the argument itself. I mean you could also take into account that there were people who did have a problem with the other dramas too. And some of them the same people who pointed out those things in both the drams like I did. So why the hypocrisy excuse to defend the issues itself? Again missing the point I made sigh. Nvm I don't think there's more I can say.
Were they though? I literally said there were people who had a problem with the other things too. You generalized everyone so people can be sceptical of you too? It's like totally missing the point of my argument.
Sorry, but what exactly is the point here? I know it might sound crazy, but have you already considered that your…
I am sorry but that thing already has happened. No excuses for it. They already didn't handle it better in these two episodes and took it as comedy. The problematic stereotypes still exists. I said the drama might redeem itself. Also my argument was about people bringing up other's hypocrisy. Why didn't they only stick to these arguments instead? Enough with the ad hominems. I don't give dramas the benifit of the doubt easily because it is way more likely and does happen where it disappoints if it shows such problematic issues in the first place. I just thought that with recent events (and that it's 2020) they should not be so tone deaf.

If it doesn't will that take away the fact that people were also making excuses already? Weren't they pretending there was no racist stereotypes and that the FL was right to kiss the ML without clear consent? It might be enough to forgive the character or drama but I still won't pretend the individual actions weren't wrong.
"If other shows have similar bad scenes/bad character behavior and people don’t call out on it, does that mean…
You do realise a lot of the people you called hypocrites for being okay with some stuff on other dramas but not here are probably compartmentalising too right? Seems like a never ending argument to me.

Wait I want to add something. You have a problem with Underage actresses paired up with older actors right? If hypocrites exist who will have a problem with that in some dramas but overlook that in others does that suddenly mean using Underage actresses for such roles is okay? See what the uselessness of such an argument is. I mean there are people literally said in the mirror of the witch comment section that they are okay with the pairing since in makes sense in that context, that she looks mature for her age and other such comments effectively saying that if the context was different and if the actress didn't look mature for her age then they would have a problem, isn't there hypocrisy in that argument according to your standard? So people should defend underage- older age pairings by that logic? No right? Then same applies here too.
Age of 'consent' though has been raised from 13 to 16 (again international) now.
