Although this 10 ep story left me baffled with many questions that no one else other than the storywriter can explain sensibly what was that all about, it didn't make me vexed like what Alice did.
But no matter what, this is one series that i will not ask for a season 2.
Those who watched it, spoil me about li yitong character and how much screen space she has?
As of today, the focus is on YY and his progression in the training. Her screentime is more like cameo appearances, less than ten scenes and each appearance not more than 10min
thanks to @ShubhiSrivastava for sharing the novel link.
Was quite apprehensive to start this before its end of run. But couldn't hold back on my chase because it's a CP by YangSi. Hope the scriptwriter will give us a happy non cliffy ending. Else, it'll be too much to bear.
Have never rated any show on 1st ep and before end of run, but this got my 10.

Yes, Chinese language, spoken in the form of Standard Mandarin is used in all China dramas. For period dramas involving imperial court, there'll be the Old Chinese & Middle Chinese (depending on which dynasty era). Certain words are used differently but refer to the same thing. Eg the emperor in one dynasty is referred to as Guanjia, but Bixia in another. Royalties address themselves as Ben Wang or Ben jun instead one simple word "Wo"
Different towns and cities in different provinces have different dialects, but these won't be heard in China dramas unless there's a specific need to. Eg, the time when ML was the presiding judge at the magistrate court.
Anyone here read the novel, can please spoil for me on the ending. Did the novel end happily? Or is this a happy start turned sad ending? The opening OST somehow sounds sad to me. If this is one of those that start with comedy and end on a sour note, i'll hold off first.
Really enjoying this show! ML is adorable, honorable, and strong. As is the FL. In very different ways. Each of…
It's Mandarin. But since this is a costume period drama and involving court officials, there'll be the usual formal Chinese as well as the usual poetic phrases and idioms. As for dialect, I don't and can't recall multiple language/dialects used. Assume you're referring to the villager who went to lodge his complaint, but that was one and only incident. Was there more?
I didn't watch this in 2019 when it was released. Fans of Li HongYi and Zhao Lusi must have liked seeing the two of them in two dramas, released one after another. Seems like this drama is a consolation to compensate PH viewers.
just clarifying one thing. In Ep# 2 SGQY has already specifically told XCH that they are not real siblings. But what's so wrong in her calling him Ge Ge instead of Qiu Yue Ge?! Ge Ge does not apply only to siblings.
Sure glad i stopped at 8 and didn't get dragged along. Most thankful too for all your tips abt the two unnecessary eps. I like JT but not the character he's playing in this one. Think the OSTs are the only thing i like here.
It's already the 9th ep and i still don't get it. Do you?! And the next ep is the last ep. Hope this is not coming in seasons! I hate cliffhanger endings
She has liked him since schooldays and also liked his being by her side. She cried her heart out when he left for the army, but at that moment, she didn't know her sadness was due to his leaving and not being able to see him for a long while.

I'm now watching WHO RULES THE WORLD!
It's a great start, and much much better than MSP.
