Took half a star off for the format - I felt that the acting was pretty good, the chemistry between the mains was good and the writing was good but the story a bit underdeveloped, which I think is a result of the format they went with. If it had been even 8 episodes of half an hour each, it would have allowed the story and flow be better. Worth the watch, overall, though.
This was actually quite cute and fun to watch. It was obviously a low budget production and the editing was a little choppy here and there, but overall the acting was decent and there was enough good about the show to make me want to keep watching it and not feel like it was a waste of 4 hours. I’d recommend it for anyone wanting something light and easy to watch.
The review I would put on Viki, except for some stupid reason I can’t work out it’s not letting me:
The acting of both Yagi Yusai and Hagiwara Riku is really outstanding. I honestly can’t praise them enough. I wish I could put into words all my thoughts on this show, but I don’t really know how. The dynamics of Hira and Kiyoi’s relationship, and the growth in understanding how the other ticks, the baggage they each bring with them and how it affects how they see the other and their relationship: they are all so well explored and I’m really not ready to let them go. I hope this show’s international viewers get to also see the movie at some point. 10/10 Viki rating (9.5/10 on MDL)
Most of the actors did a pretty decent job with what they had to work with, because the rest of it was, well, basically a mess. I hope Chap and Green get better projects (separately or together) in the future.
The acting was good. The premise was good. The story could have been great, but due to how really short the show is, it’s just so under developed. If it had been given the time it needed, I would have given 9 stars.
I thought the acting was really good, especially from the leads, and the cinematography and soundtrack were also great. It’s the pacing that dragged it down for me. I wouldn’t even have minded that it was a simple storyline if the pacing had fit it. Everything, including a lot of the dialogue, was just so very slow. I did still enjoy watching it, mostly thanks to Mark and Zung. I also really appreciated that it wasn’t yet another high school or university based story. It’s just that so much more could have been done with it.
