I approached this drama because it is an adaptation of a beloved novel I’d just finished, and the book holds a special place on my shelf. My curiosity was piqued by the idea of witnessing how a story I’ve lived with in pages would unfold in living color. Taken as a whole, the show is a thoughtful, earnest adaptation—one that captures the tonal heartbeat of the source while letting its own light seep through in unexpected, sometimes quiet moments. A few crucial scenes from the novel don’t appear on screen, and a handful of side stories drift a bit from the central momentum. Yet the core emotional engine—the ache, the wit, the stubborn tenderness—remains clear and compelling, inviting you to watch with a feeling of anticipation and perhaps to pick up the original book and compare the different routes the story takes.

Is Peiyan going to turn evil later or his character is consistent with who he is? I'm assuming the King of Liang…
The drama adaptation has made significant changes to the book's original story. The creators may have intended to adapt different stories and endings to align with their vision, so predicting what to expect is difficult. Both PY and WZ hold equal importance in the book, and I sincerely appreciate both characters. However, there is one aspect of the novel that I find unforgivable about PY: when he attempts to force a kiss on JC and commits terrible acts against her. Fortunately, the Yueluo troops intervene, and PY comes to his senses. As he pursues them, WZ ends up saving the unconscious JC. Although WZ's true intention is to kidnap JC, this act inadvertently saves her from the unfortunate situation that unfolds

It did not happen. WZ saved her. WZ had planned to kidnap her but at the same time saved her when she was unconscious and in danger from Pei Yan. Thankfully, Yueluo's troops attacked, causing Pei Yan to come to his senses and chase them

can someone explain their characters according to novel........like pei yan in the drama is careing and sweet…
They changed a lot for entertainment, censorship, and drama purposes. The novel features three key male characters: Pei Yan, Wei Zhao (also known as San Lang or the 3rd Young Master), and Cui Liang. All three are drawn to the female lead, Jiang Ci, but she only has eyes for Wei Zhao. Jiang Ci falls at first sight with Wei Zhao at their first meeting in a tree, captivated by his striking beauty. Both Wei Zhao and Pei Yan play equally significant roles in the novel. Initially, both men intended to manipulate Jiang Ci to achieve their own purpose, but her kindness, innocence, and purity touched the hearts of these two men, who experienced significant bloodshed in their lives. Cui Liang is portrayed as a wise healer who later becomes a war advisor. After meeting at Pei Yan's house, he forms a close bond with Jiang Ci. Cui Liang always prepares food for Jiang Ci, who adores eating, but she only sees him as an older brother. Cui Liang also fulfils his promise to Wei Zhao by taking care of Jiang Ci and her son, escorting them away from the capital after Wei Zhao's passing and fulfilling his final wishes.

Yeah, some scenes needed to be censored since the reaction would be quite bad if it were broadcast on a drama scene. They did well on this one

As you say, WZ indeed had planned to kidnap JC, but at the same time, he «rescued» JC when she was unconscious and in danger from Pei Yan. Thankfully, Yueluo's troops attacked, causing Pei Yan to come to his senses and chase them

Can anyone tell me what's Gao Han's role here? Is he good at least cause every other male character seems to be…
Although the drama doesn't highlight his character much, he is one of the male characters from the novel. CL has a close bond with JC. It is a pity that she treats him only as an older brother. He is the one who looks after JC and her son and took them away from the capital as he promised to WZ

Why are people so keen to post uncovered major ending spoilers??? Come on, use the damn spoiler tag!!!
The drama was adapted from the novel that is known for Bad Ending, and it's not a new topic. When the cast lineup was announced, the ceremony opened, and shooting began; it was all over Weibo and on the news pages. Most users talked about how they would tell the story and end the drama since it comes from the listed tragic novel. The story is cruel, and the ending is heartbreaking, just like Goodbye My Princess. Some say it will follow the book, some say otherwise, and others say maybe an open ending or bitter-sweet ending since, when it comes to adaptation, they don’t necessarily follow the book so that it could play out entirely differently. It's possible that the creators of the drama also planned to adapt different endings to fit their vision

did the novel has sad ending?
The novel is tilted as having a bad ending. The tragic ending was necessary for the novel's impact; It reinforced the depth of the characters' experiences and the themes explored throughout the story. On the other hand, if the author had given a happy ending, it would have diminished these elements, making everything feel forced and unrealistic. However, predicting how the story will be presented regarding adaptations, such as a drama, is hard. Dramas often take creative liberties and may diverge significantly from the original narrative, potentially leading to an entirely different interpretation and outcome

After watching all 12 drama episodes, I must say the plot messed up. A complicated mix of creative, commercial, regulatory, and production influences caused the show to deviate significantly from the original novel. It is disappointing to see such a promising novel go to waste in this adaptation. Despite the heartbreaking ending, the story is compelling and well-crafted

"Queen of Tears" is a remarkable drama that has caught my attention. I have rewatched it three times, and it is ongoing with just two episodes. The story revolves around a married couple, and it is fascinating to see how they struggle to maintain their relationship amidst all the challenges. This drama is unique and refreshing compared to other dramas that usually focus on the typical boyfriend-girlfriend relationships that end in a happy marriage. "Queen of Tears" portrays a different perspective of married life, and it is heartwarming to see how they navigate through their differences and overcome obstacles together. The show's realistic portrayal of the ups and downs of married life makes it stand out from the rest, and it has become one of my all-time favourites♡

As I watched this drama after finishing Song Yiren's previous work, "Different Princess," I was consistently amazed by her extraordinary talent and versatility as an actress. Song Yiren's capacity to connect effortlessly with each of her co-stars on screen is a testament to her exceptional skill. Be it with various actors, her ability to establish authentic and captivating chemistry is genuinely remarkable. It's as though she has an innate ability to adapt and harmonise with the dynamics of any on-screen partnership, bringing out the best in her fellow actors and elevating the overall quality of the performances. Additionally, her portrayal of two distinct characters in this drama is captivating. The depth and nuance she brings to each role are genuinely mesmerising. Her seamless transition between these contrasting characters showcases an incredible range and an acute understanding of the complexities of human emotion. The ability to convincingly embody two separate personas within the same narrative is a testament to her talent and dedication to her craft.
Furthermore, how she infuses each character with their unique traits, mannerisms, and emotional depth is a testament to her artistry. Her portrayal of these two characters captivates me and serves as a character development and performance masterclass. She possesses a rare and exceptional talent that enriches every production she participates in. Her ability to create compelling chemistry with her co-stars and portray multiple characters with depth and authenticity is a true gift to the entertainment world. It's performances like these that remind us of the transformative power of storytelling and the impact of a truly gifted actress.

What a smart move! They give the drama four different endings. There is a sad ending for Gong Ye Qi, a happy ending for Jiyun, a bittersweet ending for Jichu, and an open ending in the modern world. It was fascinating to see how each of these endings had a unique impact, and it was clear that the team maker had meticulously crafted each ending to suit the characters in the story. The sad ending leaves the audience feeling emotional and heartbroken. The happy ending provided a satisfying conclusion and left viewers feeling content. The bittersweet ending, with joy and sadness, leaves the audience with mixed emotions. Finally, an open ending left the story's conclusion up to interpretation. Each of these endings was distinct and had a unique effect on the audience, making it clear that the drama team had put much thought into crafting a satisfying conclusion to the story that fit each character and ensuring the audience would not make a fuss about the drama's ending. Still, I prefer Gong Ye Qi's sad ending and Ji Chu’s bittersweet ending.
Gongyeqi's story teaches us a valuable lesson about the conflict between love and revenge. Gongyeqi is torn between his love for Wan Er and his desire for revenge against her family. Navigating the conflicting emotions of love and revenge can be difficult. It is crucial to choose between the two, especially if the person you seek revenge against is someone you deeply love. Failure to do so can lead to a tragic ending. Love is a powerful emotion that can bring immense joy and happiness into our lives. It makes life worth living and gives us a sense of purpose. While seeking revenge may seem like a natural response to being wronged, it is essential to consider the consequences of such actions. Revenge can cause irreparable damage to relationships and lead to a never-ending cycle of retaliation. When faced with the difficult choice between love and revenge, taking a step back and evaluating the situation objectively is crucial. Ask yourself if seeking revenge is truly worth sacrificing the love and happiness you once shared with the other person. Ultimately, choosing love over revenge may not be easy, but it is often the best decision for our well-being and happiness.

Meanwhile, JiChu and Xiaoqing's love story is bitter and sweet at the same time. As their fate is sealed from the beginning. Despite this, they are brought together by destiny, and they fall deeply in love with each other. However, it becomes clear that their love is not meant to last forever, as they cannot overcome the forces pulling them apart. JiChu kills Xiaoqing in the first episode, and later on, she sacrifices herself to save him. Xiaoqing cannot escape her fate. The bittersweet ending of their story is fitting, as it sometimes represents the reality of life. Occasionally, we cannot get what we want; when we grasp it, we must lose the other one, and our hopes and dreams are dashed by fate. In the case of JiChu and Xiaoqing, they can fulfil their destiny of falling in love, but they cannot escape their respective fates. Xiaoqing's death, caused by JiChu, is her fate while becoming Emperor is JiChu's fate. Regardless of whether he kills Jiyun or not, he cannot avoid his fate of sitting on the throne. In conclusion, the bittersweet ending of their story is a poignant reminder that sometimes, life doesn't go how we want it to. However, it also highlights the power of destiny, which can bring people together despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

As a viewer, I always hope that the drama I'm watching ends on a perfect note. However, for me, a perfect ending isn't necessarily the one that pleases everyone. Rather, it's the one that fits the story and brings it to a conclusion that feels natural and earned. In fact, the only part of the drama that's more important than the beginning is the end. While a drama can have a slow or even bad beginning, it's the ending that will stick with the audience the most. It's the part of the drama that they'll talk about and define the rest of the drama by. The way a story ends can leave a lasting impression on the audience, which is why a perfect ending is crucial. However, what truly matters is the journey that leads to the end. An ending that pleases everyone is impossible to achieve, as every viewer has their own preference. Whether it's a happy or sad ending, a bittersweet or open ending, there will always be people who prefer one over the other. For me, a perfect ending is one that wraps up and resolves the central conflict that was laid out at the beginning of the drama. It should provide a powerful close to the character's development and illustrate their transformation. The main character should have learned valuable lessons along the way, and the ending should justify their growth. In order to feel fulfilled as a viewer, I need the storyline to be wrapped up in a way that feels authentic to the characters and justifies the story itself. This can include resolving conflicts, tying up loose ends, and providing closure for the characters and their journeys. Ultimately, a well-executed ending can elevate the entire story and leave a lasting impression on the audience. However, it's unfortunate that most dramas struggle to deliver a satisfying ending, often leaving the audience feeling unfulfilled or even confused

Loved the way Ji Chu expresses his emotions towards Xiaoqing after discovering that she is a spy for the empress is truly remarkable. It was evident from his face that his world had come crashing down in a matter of seconds. The disappointment and hurt in his eyes were palpable, and it was clear that he was struggling to come to terms with the truth. However, it was not just anger and sadness that he was feeling. He was also afraid of losing Xiaoqing at any moment, which made him feel helpless. Despite all this, he found it difficult to let go of her because he loved her deeply. To Ji Chu, she was like the clear midsummer sky, always calm and serene, and like the sun that breaks through the clouds after a heavy rain, bringing light and hope to his life. Her guidance had led him to see the world in a completely different light, and he had become a better person simply by admiring and loving her. Her impact on him was so profound that he felt as though he had been given a new lease on life. Whenever he thought of her, he was filled with a sense of joy and contentment that he couldn't describe. Ji Chu was like a breath of fresh air, and he knew that he would be forever grateful for her presence in his life. The conflicting emotions he was experiencing left him in a state of turmoil, unsure of what to do next.
The scene was incredibly raw and emotional, with the outcome feeling completely believable. The authenticity of the moment was palpable, drawing me in and making me feel fully invested in the characters and their experiences. I was moved by the depth of emotion on display and found myself fully immersed in the story as it unfolded. Overall, it was a powerful and unforgettable scene that left a lasting impression on me.

The drama has some intriguing details that are yet to be revealed. For instance, the opening and ending theme songs show some scenes that haven't been shown in the drama yet. One of the most interesting details is the blood that is shown in front of Ji Chu before he fought with the Crown Prince. It is speculated that the blood might belong to Xiaoqing, who sacrificed herself to save Ji Chu and was then killed by the Empress. Furthermore, the fight between Jiyun and Jichu might be related to Xiao Qing's death. During the fight, Ji Yun wore the same yellow dragon robe he wore in the first episode when he was killed by Ji Chu. There is also a scene where Ji Chu wears a black-gold dragon robe and a golden crown while holding and staring at Xiaoqing’s bracelet with a sad expression. He has never worn this kind of robe before, nor has he ever worn a golden crown so far it's all silver crown. It is assumed that he might have become the Emperor, but it is still unclear how he ascended the throne. Moreover, it is not clear why Ji Chu wore a black robe instead of the yellow robe that Ji Yun wore. Some speculate that Ji Chu wore black to mourn someone who is gone, while others believe that he wore it because his character is the villain and black signifies that in Chinese culture. Nevertheless, he looks majestic in that attire, and it adds to the mystery and intrigue of the drama. This detail made me wonder if Ji Chu successfully killed Ji Yun and became the new emperor, thus leading to everything going back to the original plot. In conclusion, it seems that the beginning of the story may very well be the end of the story, but I am still uncertain about how it will all play out. There are many plot twists and turns that make it challenging to predict the direction of the story. Nonetheless, I am excited to see how everything unfolds in the upcoming episodes

On Weibo, many users are discussing the possibility of the drama having an open ending. This type of ending has become increasingly common in recent years, but it is not always well-received by audiences. Personally, I find open endings to be somewhat frustrating because they often lack a sense of closure and resolution. Instead of providing a definitive conclusion to the story, an open ending can leave the audience feeling unsatisfied or confused. In my opinion, the ending of a drama should always be justified by the story itself. If the narrative calls for an open ending, then that is fine. However, if it feels like a lazy or cop-out conclusion, then it can be disappointing for viewers who invested their time in the show. I prefer endings that tie up loose ends and provide a sense of closure, regardless of whether they are happy or sad. This allows me to fully appreciate the journey that the characters have gone through and feel satisfied with the outcome. Of course, there are some instances where an open ending can work well, especially if there is a possibility of a sequel. In these cases, an open ending can create excitement and anticipation for what might come next. However, if the drama is intended to be a stand-alone piece, then I would much rather see a well-crafted ending that provides a satisfying conclusion to the story.

According to a Weibo user's spoiler, the upcoming story seems to be taking a dramatic turn. The true villain appears to be the Empress, who accomplished all sorts of nefarious things to protect the throne for the Crown Prince. Additionally, it seems that the Crown Prince himself gets poisoned and undergoes a demon-like transformation, similar to what happened to JiChu's mother. The Empress then goes on to threaten Ji Chu, insisting that he kill himself in front of her and the female lead, or else she will kill Hua Qinge. However, before the male lead could carry out the Empress's orders, Hua Qing Ge decided to sacrifice herself to save Ji Chu. All in all, it appears that the story is heading towards a thrilling and intense climax and I just hope they can give the drama a happy ending
