Oh my gosh. I am watching Blossoms in adversity and decided to look her up bc she looked familiar and she’s doing amazing at her role — turns out I’ve seen her in My Journey To You and she knocked it out of the park in that role. She’s portraying two wildly different characters amazingly. Can’t wait to see her in other shows.
After episode 30 it’s clear this show is not about Mai … it’s Shi Zi’s story. Also, the SML is barely in any episodes while being considered Main Cast. Chen Qi is in more scenes I think.
The storytelling leaves a lot of loose ends, not just veering away from what the main plot was about — which was Mai going into the Army to become a general and to find out about and avenge her parents’ deaths.
I just turned on the app and don’t see ep 31 yet. So while I wait, I will just say… this is it, you guys. The moment Fighting for Love has gone supremely downhill like Rise of The Phoenixes. Where all characters have lost their ability to reason and the virtues we loved about them went poof. I just can’t believe SML really tried to do such a laughably poor job at assassination. Or that FML hugged and supported ML lying to her. Or that this story is now ML’s story. Unbelievable. (I loved Rise of The Phoenixes btw and will not watch past episode 40 because after that is only disappointment.)
Just finished episode 26 and honestly, ML has had no character development since he was introduced as a selfish and spoiled nobleman. His conquests so far have been thanks to Mai or Mr Xu (I think that’s his name? The guy in the army who makes decisions too). And he has, for the most part, left important decisions to others, like Mr Xu and the suicide in episode 24 (btw ep 23-24’s plot of Mai being found out was so irrelevant? Even the suicide? That all just stops and the army goes to the capital.)
After 26 I was thinking maybe there’s a slight chance for SML now — but I think how it will end is she will refuse to be ML’s consort and SML will wait for her. I felt this way about Rise of The Phoenixes, just bummed in the end because it was such a great show until it went downhill.
Halfway through episode 22 here and I am now having a hard time with positive feelings toward the ML. The beginning of ep 22 shows how bumbling and ineffective he is, shooting at someone and then with total lack of care towards the actual person he shot. I cannot see him as a leader at all, nor as a romantic hero. Meanwhile SML is having an emotional arc. I hope he becomes the ML but I’m afraid I might actually dislike this show in the end 😩
Not me going on a deep dive on the ML actress and SML actor. I am obsessed 🤣 I understand why the ML is goofy — bc there are already three very masculine male leads. It does differentiate him. But the director needs to amp up ML and FL’s emotional tension because they’re seem to just be really good buddies with benefits (kissing scenes lol). The SML tho — whew I can’t wait for more episodes tomorrow. Crystal was so gorgeous when they opened the door and she came out in the women’s regalia SML left her. Need to see his reaction now 😬
