I've seen 4 episodes so far and I tend to agree with "MyDramaObsession"'s review: the story isn't at all morally wrong (unlike the original Jdrama). The moral issues of the story are completely ignored in this version. The heroine is already too soft, she's such a nice person, it's impossible not to like her. This Momo is very sweet too, (as usual) and Hasumi is not only very handsome (I'm more into men in their 30s) but very kind, very attentive!!! And I'm still at the beginning of the drama (at least 10 more episodes to go) and the relationship between Momo and Sumire is already very warm, very sweet. They already seem to care for each other... so I wonder: what's going to happen in the next episodes? I generally love fluffy rom-comedies (hello "Kiss Me" was full of "fluff"!) but too much fluff might kill it for me this time...^^
I have just watched it raw and I feel as if I have whiplash or as if someone had his finger on the fastforward…
I agree with you with the fastforward pace of this movie. Everything seem to happen too fast. The hospital plotline and the scenes when she has to spend the night at his place are one of my favourite parts of the original story. And in this movie, I thought there was something interesting in the hospital scene with the hug, but then not enough time to really connect, we have to move on to another scene with a different tone. And it's the same with the scenes when Kotoko sleeps at his place. These parts fall a little flat in this movie.
and because the story moves too fast, I also find this Irie very hard to connect to. I'm surprised because Kanta Sato's acting was much better in the first movie, there was more interaction between the 2 leads and this Irie wasn't as "bland" as in this second movie.
Still, there are a few things I enjoyed in this 2nd movie: -The two actors are a well match physically, their hugs are nice to look at, and we have another piggy- back-ride scene and again, there is definitely something cute in these "skinship" scenes! ^^ -I love the ending starting with the "orienting game" and with the second kiss scene which was very well done, and very romantic (the setting, the music, the two actors' clothes, etc...) But I 've seen the "real" kiss scene in the 3rd movie, so maybe it's this one that I was able to connect to!
- You can download the video from Youtube and when you play it with VLC, you can add the English subs. They're well -timed to the video and you can still read them below the Indonesian Subs.
The second kiss scene is so lovely in this version !!<3 it's very similar to the one in the manga! it takes place in the forest!! the setting is perfect and the scene so well done by the actors!!!There's a lot of sensuality in the dream kiss sequence, I had to watch the third movie without subs to see the "real" 2nde kiss scene and it's very romantic too!! I like the two leads in this franchise!! they look good together, they have good chemistry!! Naoki is very handsome, well-dressed and the actor's acting grew on me... His Naoki is very interesting... But one of the best things about this franchise is this Kotoko!! I really like her... she's not too clingy like Ariel Lin's Kotoko (TW) , she still keeps her cool, has still some self respect... and she's not overacting all the time like Miki's Kotoko (Jdrama version)! There are some heart-warming scenes, and the three kissing scenes are so well done!! so it's worth the watch IMO... the third movie is really good too...<3 <3
is it just me who actually cried at the end of ep 24? TT He's was such a good, funny friend of them!! TT
No, I kept screaming in front of my computer!!! I thought he was a fool to go there all by himself in the first place!!! I kept yelling at the character's lack of common sense: They probably never watch a horror movie cos there's this rule: "never go somewhere alone"
Anyway, I was so sad afterwards, but I knew before watching the end of this episode that someone in this group was going to die!!! That's why the viewing was so intense!!! ahhhh!
This is how I rate these - 1. Meteor Garden - 2. Hana Yori Dango - 3. BoF 1.You're Beautiful - 2. Ikemen…
I'm like you regarding Itazura Na Kiss remakes! The only ones I haven't seen is the 1996 Japanese version and the new TW remake, I don't want to see them!
I love the story but I'm not masochist with adaptations that I know straight away that wouldn't do for me!!
Same list as yours:
1. It Started with a kiss & They Kiss Again (my favourite, cos it digs deep into the feelings of the characters- it even shows Xiang Qin trying to move on at the end of season 1, when he's a total jerk with her at the point, but she can't and she wonders about that -why she can't help loving him- but that's why it's so disturbing to us 21century's viewers, we so want her to set him straight!
2. Mischievous Kiss, Love in Tokyo 1 & 2. (a little less season 2, cos I'm not a fan of Miki's loud portrayal of Kotoko!! But love the arguments between the two and the slap in the face!!! yeah!!! the argument was so funny too "you read my letter? how could you?" - But the letter was for me!!" really good stuff!!
3. Kiss Me (love all the changes, the chemistry between the two leads, a feel good drama)
4- The animated version of Itazura Na Kiss!! cute
5- Playful Kiss (although I couldn't watch it anymore)
6- Mischievous kiss, the movie High School ...
My other lists:
1- Boys over Flowers 2. Hana Yori Dango 3- Meteor Garden
1 - Hana Kimi JP (2007 version) and actually that's the only one I really love - I didn't really like the Korean (heroine is too girly) and the Tw versions (the heroine too boyish, Tw Nakastu horrible but nice love story) .
I've seen them once and that's enough...
Talk about beating a dead horse. Was ANOTHER one really necessary after the slew of remakes in the past few years?…
Yeah, I agree! Nothing really original in this jap movie, compared to the others...But I think it's still even better than the new tw remake, Miss In Kiss§ I've just seen videos of the three main tw leads, and that's enough for me! I definitely don't want to see that adaptation! What interests me the most in the original story (manga and all the other adaptations) is the character of Naoki (his personality, the cold jerk and how thanks to the presence of Kotoko, he starts to change, to be a better man and especially how despite himself, he starts having feelings for Kotoko!
That's what I love about the whole story. The more mysterious and reserved he is at the beginning and the more he slowly opens up and reacts to Kotoko's actions, the more I love it!!!
But straight away, I could see just through videos on YT that the new TW Naoki
was a "no no" for me. Totally miscast as Naoki! His face and the way he acts don't match Naoki's description in my book!! His face looks too "cheerful" for the part!
At least in this jap movie, the actor looks the part! I just wished they could have shown his feelings a little bit more. Not enough time to show Naoki's unconcious jealousy... That was so well done in the old TW version (my favourite), the 2013-2014 Japanese version (with Yuki, it was very subtle but definitely there, when he suddenly breaks into a smile in season 1) and also the Thai version (also a favourite with Mike who was all mysterious as Tenten!!)
Talk about beating a dead horse. Was ANOTHER one really necessary after the slew of remakes in the past few years?…
Have you tried the Thai version of this story? the title is Kiss Me With an amazing couple and the story is definitely different from the other versions!!! I loved this adaptation and the chemistry between the leads was sizzling, Noaki's Mother in this one is awesome, my favourite Mom of them all! The scenes with her son were incredible! And Kinchan's character was also a total improvement! But the best thing is definitely the improvement and the changes with the two leads!!! and the kisses!!! wow steamy!!!
Watch it!! You'll be hooked! With the same actors, you also need to watch Full House, the Thai version!!! They're awesome together in this one!!! Mike + Aom Am forever!!! =Tenten + Taliw!!!
I love flirtatious and seductive Ji Wook. Re-watching those scenes again.
Love the whole drama!!! awesome scenes with Ji Wook + Bong Hee!! This is very addictive, I've also rewatched a few scenes!!!
The storyline with the murderer keeps me hooked too!!!
this movie wasn't all that bad!!! surrprinsingly, I enjoyed watching it! The kissing scene was very interesting and made my heart skip a beat. I thought it was just like in the anime and it was beautifully shot and acted, with Kotoko wondering at the end if she dreamed the whole thing!! I also enjoyed the scenes with them at the Sports events!!! And I like the actor who plays Naoki, even though the movie was fast-paced... I mean, the whole point of this story is Naoki's slow evolution of feelings and this movie didn't make time to show that very much.
But the actor brings something else to the character.
I haven't seen any TW dramas for some time (last ones were with Mike He, Love Keeps going and Sunny Happiness) and I usually prefer Kdramas, so maybe that's why I find it hard to enjoy watching this one... All the actors seem to overplay most of the time... Someone tried to compare it to "Marriage Without Dating" But I much prefer the heroine of "Marriage without Dating" to this one and I don't understand how Alice Ke got an award for this part...She's good-looking and has a nice hairdo but she overplays a lot..I've even had to fast forward episode 2 or 3 because I couldn't stand the acting... I've seen 5 episodes so far... Two things I like: the fact that the 2 main characters sometimes tells stuff directly to the camera is very original; and 2/ I liked the game of seduction between the two, especially in the hot baths scene!! that was funny!!!
I agree about the girl from "Marriage Contract' and "Thank You"... You missed Lee Jun Ki's Daughter in Two Weeks, she's amazing too.
And yes, Xiao Le in "Autumn's Concerto" is the cutest and unforgettable child in my mind!!!
For cliché N° 2, there is also Full House, the Thai version with Mike & Aom Am having lots of fights but also teasing each other for a good part of the drama!!! I loved this drama and I enjoyed so much the part when they fight and tease each other a lot!!! It was so much fun to watch them try to bite one another, or just argue loudly!! Their chemistry is off the charts, they remind me of the couples American screwball comedies of the 30s/40s. in those comedies, the main couple has the the same dynamic I hate you/ I love you as Mike & Aom Am!!!
They're like kids together and they found each other's playmate. That's why I loved them so much... The ending is so sweet. This drama is full of fluff, a feel good drama!
If there's one Lajorn to watch, it's this one...
I wanted to watch the Thai melodrama Game Rai Game Rak but I couldn't find it with Eng subs and the quality of the video was bad...
The thing is a lot of people loved The Heirs, right? so I'm not sure it would fit in this list... I agree that It's badly written and acted, well it's the definition of a soap opera in my book!! ^^ (Park Shin Hye made me laugh so much in ep 1 and I wasn't supposed to laugh!! ) But as a soap opera, it was entertaining!
I'm with all the Healer hurt fans. That drama was amazingly done with a touch of everything that flowed almost…
Yeah, I did feel the connection between the recent political events with the corruption and the "fall" of the corrupted politics and Healer's plot... but corruption is a theme that is explored in lots of Kdramas...
Healer is definition of good drama in my book...Last cinderellla wasn´t really awful, it´s was more…
I would also add "It started with a kiss" and "They Kiss Again" in the list! I think I'm the only one who keeps loving this drama despite its many flaws. And I don't like being criticized for loving it to bits.
A lot of people like "Personal Taste", including me..
And I loved "Last Cinderella", it's my favourite Japanese drama!!! <3 .
how come Healer is in the list? it's one of the best dramas ever:
- the cast was perfect with every actor embodying their character so well that I never had the impression that they were acting! and Ji chang Wook was way ahead of the others IMO since he played 3 characters into one perfectly well - I loved the 2 or 3 moments when he was supposed to act as Park Bong Soon but he wasn't able to control his reactions as Jung Hoo, the tough and damaged kid who had to rely on himself early on! I loved to see the infinite flickers of emotions on his face in those moments (it was like he was saying "man, she's dumb " or "whatever you say, I'm not gonna listen to you!" when the second male lead told him to stop seeing Chae Young Shin! ^^ lol!)
- the story was cleverly woven all the way through, the finale was excellent with lots of feels and the hero remaining basically the same as he was (I would have hated if he had become normal, like any guy, but no, only his job is a bit more "normal" than what he used to do)
-The action was well balanced with the corruption plot and the humor was well balanced with the emotional moments (Jung Hoo and his mother- the heroine and her father - the heroine and her mother ..the importance of being a journalist who wants to reveal the truth)
-the romance is beautiful, mature, you've got even a bit of the sex part, (have you seen episode 15?) I especially loved the fact that there are no misunderstandings between them, from the moment that she knows he's Healer - I mean, she's angry but she lets him know that she knows and forgives him rather quickly. And she was amazing reacting the way we've always wanted, when Jung Hoo tried to make her leave, when she said "I don't care what you've done!, I love you and I won't leave you.. You can't hurt me" and usually again, the hero does the noble idiot thing by rejecting her but here, no!!! The man is starving for affection, so no way he's going to reject her!! ^^
And there you've got some steamy scenes (begining of ep 15^^ I thought the bed scene was rather hot, don't you? it was hot because of the way he looked at her, so cute!!! there another sign that he's a great actor!!! the kisses were real, natural,
I admit that the drama has flaws:the fighting scenes could have been better filmed! they were better in The K2! and it would have been better if we didn't have any song right in the middle of an intense moment between the two leads (we know it's romantic and intense, no need to spoil this silent moment with them with a loud song!!^^)
But except for that, Healer was an excellent drama!!! I haven't seen a drama which was better than this one, since. I'm still loooking for the drama which could replace it in my heart...
The heroine is already too soft, she's such a nice person, it's impossible not to like her. This Momo is very sweet too, (as usual) and Hasumi is not only very handsome (I'm more into men in their 30s) but very kind, very attentive!!!
