again its a 3 life time story; there isn't time for a slow burn romance.
Yeah I get that, but I wish they developed the romance just a tiny bit more at the beginning so it's smoother for the rest of the ride. It doesn't even have to be a whole arc, just maybe an extra 10 seconds peppered in here and there for some stealing glances, touches, etc. But I'm not the editor and I don't make the final decisions.
Otherwise, liking other parts of the drama to continue.
I'm a casual watcher aka not a fan of any of the leads. This is my first drama of TSY (seven tan), and while it's not my first drama of HMH (Neo Hou) I've dropped all his previous dramas for multiple reasons.
So far, I've watched 9 episodes and I'm pleasantly surprised to find that this drama may be the one to end my many months cdrama drought. I think the leads match visually and have enough chemistry... BUT
The romance is unfortunately starting to lose me because how the heck did we get from bickering strangers to lovers so quickly? Maybe there were some scenes there were cut, even in the red string bracelet arc there wasn't much hinting at romance. At most they were in the friends stage and still gaining each other's trust. And then all of a sudden we see XY and HY on the rooftop with fireworks in the background, and I'm ??? I don't feel anything? They didn't develop the romance so that scene didn't have the emotional payoff it was supposed to have. I'm still going to keep watching to see where this goes but I won't lie I fast forwarded so much of their 'date'
Some other things that are very minor in the grand scheme of things but really annoyed me:
1) XY should have at least told her father she was safe. It pained me to see him drunk limping away feeling like life isn't worth living anymore 🥲 2) HY telling XY she's his 'only' friend... Ouch, I'd be so hurt if I were Xiao Mu/Xiao Ming aka cat demon. I get that he doesn't have many people he can confide in, but that line felt very cringy because it's like they're overexaggerating just to force romance between the leads
Hopefully in the next episodes they'll give the leads' romance a littleee more substance. I don't want to go back to my cdrama drought 😓
