An expensive replica of low-IQ, low-budget short cdrama flooding your social media timeline ??
I can’t believe I’m wasting my brain cells on an expensive replica of those low-IQ, low-budget Chinese short dramas flooding those silly apps. The formula is painfully familiar: a psychopath gets rebranded as misunderstood, everyone bends over backwards to excuse their behaviour, and a poor, wronged heiress gets gaslit by everyone around her while an obvious impostor plays victim. The writers drag out the conflict with one contrived cliffhanger after another, hoping frustration will pass for suspense.
Netflix, how far you’ve fallen. I was actually ready to praise Tian Xiwei for her performance as two contrasting characters, but episode 15 has pretty much killed that enthusiasm. There’s nothing particularly brilliant about recycling the same tired tropes, making everyone conveniently stupid, and stretching an almost-exposed deception into endless episodes. It’s the same low-effort short-drama nonsense, just dressed up with a bigger budget. Tian Xiwei may have the talent, but even a good actress can’t save a plot that mistakes gaslighting, idiotic character decisions, and recycled cliffhangers for intelligent writing. 🙄
