Pure chaos. Addicted was airing under radar as bl was not acceptable to ccp but still back then there was no ban like now. It it stayed under radar nothing would have happened. But then it blew up on the internet. People went crazy, Deleted sex scenes of this drama only make it's fans curious and willing to research the entire internet to watch them (I’m not sure whether these scenes are available in DVD version).
Only 12 episodes aired then suddenly it was pulled down by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT).
Addicted was pulled off the air with three episodes remaining, the other three were still released in America. You can see them on Viki Rakuten or on a streaming site. The finale didn’t feel like a finale though it was supposed to be a cliff hanger in preparation for the second season, which honestly will never happen.
The government deemed the show inappropriate, specifically citing concerns about its depiction of homosexuality and other potentially "abnormal" relationships. Both actors were banned for 8 years to meet in public following China government prohibition against boys love/gay series and movies.

Rewatched it today after 8 years. For me, it's the best HIStory series ever! The plot, acting, those sizzling possessive kisses. Damn those are 🔥 Loved both ML. Bernard He as crazy obsessive, possessive lover is just tooo good.
Just finished. My heart is heavy, eyes are puffy 😭😭 Why sad ending why??? Chinese ancient dramas rarely make me cry. Only cried 2 times, but both times it was Allen Ren dramas. 1st it was One and Only and now this. Honestly started this drama with absolutely zero expectations but this drama surprised me. Loved the script, plot, acting, OST's. Gonna miss this drama a lot 🥺
