I don't consider this a slow burn romance as in it does not take a long time for them to develop feelings for one another. There's attraction right from the start. It does take a while for them to fully become a couple (still good paced tho) but either way for me the fun parts are always before the relationship starts lol

Right!! I thought it was a gorgeous drama too. Someone below said it looked outdated which is so shocking to me I thought the cinematography is great. And yes it is, it might get confusing in the initial episodes so what helped me was reading short recaps. Those were definitely life savers, made me put one and one together especially at first when I was lost with who all the characters were

Your first statement surprises me a lot, I watched it last year and was afraid it would feel outdated too but that was in my opinion not the case at all. Only some action scenes weren't visually pleasing to me but everything else I thought was very well done

Yeah it's a bit more complicated than that but based on what you're looking for I think you'd definitely enjoy this

Yess they just got married and I'm living for how well Minglan is handling everything right now!! Gu Ting Ye is definitely the best choice out of all the pairings they're on the same page and he's treating her so well. I still liked her with the others too so it would've been entertaining to see any route she took hence why I said I don't have an otp haha. But with the last question I meant which drama would you say is better Minglan or LLTG or are they on par?

Is the hype for this deserved like what are you guys enjoying about it? I'm watching Minglan right now which is apparently from the same writer and it's really good so now I feel compelled to check this one out too haha

The first half was fun the other half was just not it it's like a complete different movie. Great cast tho I definitely enjoyed the chemistry between the leads

Wanted to watch this because it got recommended under the movie This Is Not What I Expected which was lovely, this on the other hand is not worth your time. Agree with Shame's comment I do not get the purpose of the movie at all

How is this compared to the Korean version?

I was so surprised when I saw this got a live action adaptation and wow they really did it justice. It’s a crime there are only 5 episodes I’m hoping there will be a sequel. I highly recommend you guys to check out the source material too it’s just as good with even more content!

I went into this blind not knowing what I'd expect. Only work I've seen of Hamaguchi is Drive My Car which I did not like so once the movie started rolling and it became obvious to me that it was going to be another dialogue heavy film I was half expecting the same outcome. To my surprise I actually quite enjoyed this one. It did start to feel a bit too long and dragged towards the end, my attention span for conversations can only be this long, but the movie managed to keep me invested for the most part. Strong dialogues and intriguing stories. 2nd story was my favorite. Had 2 people walk out of the cinema so ig not everyone was liking it lol. I thought it was a very interesting watch, prefer it over Drive My Car even which seems to be an unpopular opinion.

Great live action adaptation I’ll definitely be watching the sequel movies too. I do have to say that I highly recommend watching the anime first because it goes a lot more in depth about how the game works, the character development and the background stories. Still good nonetheless!
