I watched it months ago but iirc even upto like episode 20-21 there was still a lingering question of if he really liked the FL or was he using her as a replacement for Han Hui though. Only after his mum and cousin decided to make him jealous that his feelings were made clear.

How to cure the "Lazy to Start Disease" aka "I'm too lazy to start a new drama disease"? I keep adding numerous shows to my watchlist but I'm having problems focusing on shows no matter how good it is. I get annoyed at the sheer length of them, even if it's just ~10-16 episodes long lol

The movie's premise is Onmyodo (aka the way of Yin & Yang) which is a Japanese divination that revolves around esoteric cosmology.

Onmyojis are people who practice Onmyodo. They basically use magic and divination to exorcise demons and repel the evil.

Shikigamis are familiars aka demon or spirits that have a pact with an Onmyoji and these shikis can be summoned by Onmyoji at will to do their bidding. Qingming in this movie's an Onmyoji and the spirits he summoned throughout the movies are his familiars.

Tengu's a yokai (aka demons in Japanese myth) that takes the form of a human with crow features like crow wings. Bayo at the end basically turned into one. The other winged shiki that Qingming summoned was also a Tengu.

Shikigamis are therefore spirits of the dead, they're not living. So Bayo turning into a Shikigami at the end made no sense to me.

That makes even less sense lol he basically assumed a form like the Karasu Tengu, which is a yokai often depicted as shikigami.

Saw it earlier on Netflix and decided to give it a try as I'm a huge lover of anything Onmyoudo. The story itself wasn't that great or anything but it was still fun. I really liked the bromance and wanted it to be actual romance loool (China though... sigh). Loved the inclusion of Shikigamis (familiars/spirit servants) and all too. The special effects are good too. Would love to see Onmyoudo and mysticism explored more in future movies.

One thing I couldn't understand was how was Boya alive at the end though. Normally you'd have to die to be a familiar, but he was alive for some reason.

Didn't expect anything except fun fights and I wasn't disappointed. Why do people expect some amazing story and acting when it comes to action movies lol Even in the west it's the same. When you watch action movies, you gotta turn your brain off. You'll enjoy them significantly when you do that. Even the likes of Die Hard are cringy af if you use brain power when watching them lol

They can't help injure them though fr. The counters have highly enhanced strength. So even their smallest attacks will leave someone injured, no matter how minor.

The severity depends. If it's a life threatening injury, they lose upto years. But minor injuries doesn't seem to affect them at all. From what we saw, Mae Ok's hair didn't change at all when healing minor fractures and bruises so prolly lost like minutes of her life at most. The only reason she lost the time with So Mun was because he was about to die.

Yes, correct. It's because they merged. He was able to hop between body because his merging and reaching the highest level gave him extraordinary powers. Also the Mayor's son was very susceptible to this because he has shown the same bloodlust as most possessed people (early on in the show he said he wanted to kill So Mun).

Wigen made it clear in the first episode that one needs to have innate evilness within themselves to be a host to these demons though. Here's what she said "An evil spirit goes into a human being who's already filled with violent temper and encourages THEIR DESIRE to kill". It's always been black and white since the beginning. The people who get possessed have the desire to kill and harm others already, the evil spirit that possess them just gives them the strength to do it.

Shin's traumatic childhood led to him having psychopathic tendencies and arrested development, which him to kill someone with the help of the evil spirit and after that he just went on killing of his own will. Remember that he was doing the bidding for his "father" because he wanted his "father" to accept him, he didn't go around killing random people until after he got betrayed by his father. He was completely in control of himself till the end. He was just a very evil guy filled with bloodlust. This is what happened in case of everyone who has been possessed in this show. From the crazy woman to the Hana's uncle. They're all evil people basically.

Him going to hell has been foreshadowed since episode 1 from how Wigen explained how it works. This is WHY Hyeok-u was also possessed at the end by Jeong Shin because if you remember, he wanted to kill So Mun at one time and he was filled with hatred towards his father. Although he did end up regretting and redeeming himself at the end. This is also why So Mun lost his powers BTW, because he was showcasing the violent desire to kill anyone who harmed his friends and loved ones.

That's not true. There are some OCN dramas where there's romance for the main leads like Train and Priest, but they're tragic kind of romance that goes nowhere.
