Best value!
This showhas got to be a contender for the best of the best! From the story line to the costumes, cast, music, stunts, comedy...I just loved it!I loved seeing the 2 leads grow and mature, especially the ML. His ignorance was cute, & I liked how he was open to suggestions & learning from every experience.
I love how lovey-dovey ml & fl were, it truly made me jealousπ€’π€.
The ending did feel a bit rushed, but didnβt detract much from how enjoyable the entire show was. I wish every drama would score as well as this one,
Thanks, MDL fam, your reviews & comments lead me to watch this drama & I'm so glad I did!

A jade of a show!!
So I will begin by saying if there's ever a drama starring Zhang Ling He where anyone thinks the acting or chemistry was bad, it would definitely be the fault of his co-star(s) or the crew, but certainly not his!ZLH is just the best, he's so good at controlling his expressions & body language he makes you just fall into him without knowing it.
And Tian Xi Wei is able to give off that simple-minded yet sincere & unpretentious vibe, just like in New Life Begins.
POJ is such a well-made drama. The cinematography, costumes, and sets were really nice. The atmosphere in Xigu lane was so refreshing.
The acting was top-notch, even the villains did well. Little Changning was cute, the pig butcher squad hilarious, then there were annoying ones like that Kang granny who ultimately redeemed herself with her sacrifice.
Deng Kai & Snow Kong had about as much screen time as ZLH & TXW, their chemistry was off the charts & they had so many kissy scenes. I actually liked him, even more so as I learned his backstory.
ZLH is such a cutie, hottie, & everything in between πππ his kisses ππ give me all the feels!ππ After that scene with the aphrodisiac, he looked like he could swallow TXW. He's most definitely amongst my top 5 Chinese actors!
POJ sits at the upper echelon of Chinese dramas for me, alongside the likes of FH, POB, SOYP, BIA, SOKP, TD, YYY, & Blossom.
9.0 rating. My only regret is that they didn't show some fights scenes, rather, they just showed the aftermath. Would've been really nice to see more of ZLH's fight scenes.

Drama on point!
DO NOT pay any mind to flippant naysayers who only skimmed through this drama! Trust me, it is a really nice show.I absolutely loved Ding Yu Xi's performance, his expressions were so realistic, especially when he stares at fl with love-oozing π... His actions scenes were quite a sight to behold, really good fight choreography & he looked so cool!
Fl wasn't bad either. I wouldn't rate her as a 'beauty' but who cares? She portrayed her character well, & even nailed her fight scenes. I like that she wasn't a mopy, clumsy damsel who needed saving. Rather, she was brave & principled & unafraid to be vulnerable with ml & stand up to the king.
I love how the leads understood & trusted each other, like they could literally think alike & finish each other's sentences. They trusted each other's judgements even if they didn't quite agree on a matter, & were very supportive of each other.
The supporting cast were great, too. Lu Qi Ba was lively & fun, Song Weng Chang was cute & admirable, even the seemingly foolish croen prince cleaned up his act & became a better ruler than his father, who btw, was just a cowardly, selfish pain in the a$sππ¬
Hanmei & Changming were just...tragic? Their ending went rather differently from what I presumed, but I liked that Hanmei genuinely cared for her.
I did not like how Chu Linyang kept stringing Tuantuan along all because of some warped sense of self-pityπ
This show highlighted 'noona-love' (love between older female & younger male) and female empowerment. Even the Wei widows were all strong women who could fight.
Probably the only minus for me was the OSTs, nothing memorable nor impressive. And i wish they showed a wedding scene, whether those of the main leads or at least that of Chu Jun & Song Wengchang. That would have really livened up the ending.
Overall, solid drama with good rewatch value ππ
