Title Dear Hyeri
Episode 5 should be titled as: The Worst Holiday Ever. You're trying to sleep in at home during your holidays to make up for your usual lack of sleep, but your ex-boyfriend pops up in front of you when you wake up everyday, drags you out of the house when you never asked for it, and finally wishes for you to keep getting sick. Sounds like a nightmare to me!

Yes. She started as Hyeri and i don't think she had DID before. She worked as Hyeri on purpose and started developing…
To be specific, her dream job was to work at the parking lot of her sister's company. Hyeri was extremely attached to Eunho and always wanted to be together with her. That's why she specifically went to the parking lot of a nearby company.

Pay attention to the use of visual representation in this show, especially of colours. Many scenes have an intentional usage of red and yellow.

Red - Eunho in her Hyeri alter/when she is going through dissociation. Eunho/"Hyeri" wears red pajamas to sleep every night, and they switch every time she wakes up. She always sits in a red chair at the psychiatrist's office. In the photo frame where they were kids, little Hyeri's face is blocked by a red balloon. The Hyeri alter is somewhat of a "mask", or she is simply a facade.

Yellow - The real Hyeri. In the greyscale flashbacks, traces of Hyeri, such as her diary, are presented in yellow flashes. "Hyeri" works in a small yellow office in the parking lot. However, the yellow office is simply a shell. She's always in a shell of Hyeri, but she is not her.

Red and yellow are near each other on the visible light spectrum, but they are undeniably two separate and distinct colours. A personality can be modelled after or be based on someone, but it cannot be their replacement.

Yes, it will start to make sense from episode 2 onwards.

Yeah, I meant that I knew it wasn't weak acting but an acting choice because we all know SHS is experienced enough for that. But without the context (which wasn't given in the first 2 eps), it can be seen as bad acting.

I've always loved Shin Hye Sun since Mr. Queen and she's been on target even in this drama. Not a fan of the Hyeri…
The Hyeri depiction is very tricky. She has to portray a personality that is modelled after her younger sister, who is implied to be mentally very young/neurodivergent/intellectually challenged - but she can't play her exactly as such. And she has to be endearing enough for the 2ML to fall for her. But with completely no context in the beginning episodes, it was hard to understand why her behaviour as Hyeri was so eccentric. If it wasn't SHS, I would have thought it was just bad acting.

Almost from a horror movie. lol!
If we weren't previously introduced to Hyeri's personality, it would be just straight up horror lol.

If you ask me, Hyeri's age doesn't matter, they would never be a plausible pairing. That is out of the question.…
Yeah, my point is unless Eunho really plans to live this way forever (aka barely sleeping a few hours a day, working two jobs and dying of exhaustion, probably worsening the symptoms as the days go by), there is no way for Hyeri and Juyeon to be long time partners, romantic or not. "Hyeri" is basically a part of Eunho, so there is still a possibility that Eunho and Juyeon can form a connection (when her symptoms have subsided). Ofc, they will never be a romantic pairing though.

I'm not insulting the show, but I see why the ratings are currently low. I'm 44 minutes into the first episode…
Personally, I thought the first episode was a bit hard to get through because it was basically like a loud rom-com with a disorder inserted in. However, I think it's getting MUCH more interesting and well executed in the recent 2 episodes. Things start to get explained in episode 2.

It's actually insane if your other personality writes a letter to you asking you to leave a part of your body to her, with the reasoning that she is "happier than you". I would be freaking out like hell if I were Eunho in that situation.

If you ask me, Hyeri's age doesn't matter, they would never be a plausible pairing. That is out of the question. The question is whether Eunho and Juyeon would possibly be good for each other. Besides, Hyeri's "age" is very debatable - the real Hyeri's (mental) age and personality traits can be found on the Hyeri alter, but they aren't the same. They are two separate beings (if you even consider a manifested personality a being).

I think he believes that she under-performs, acts recklessly, because she never got over him. He acts like a jerk…
Technically, he was the one who pushed those gigs to her though. Yeah he's probably pushing her away for that reason but his character is almost impossible to like as of now.

well we didn't get to find out why, bec the FL walked out before he could finish and in typical kdrama fashion,…
Saying that his ex "embarrasses him" and that everyone around him thinks she wasn't good enough for him, is a pretty big insult. Hearing that will be a blow to anyone's self-esteem, and much more to someone who's already struggling. Is there anything else he could have added to reduce the damage he did?

Well, they better have some good reasoning for ML's behaviour because dude was just being an obnoxious ass for no reason.

Do the “two” live in different units in the complex? So is she like in transition mode everytime she wakes…
Yes, they live in separate units. Eunho goes to sleep in Hyeri's unit (downstairs) so Hyeri always wakes up in the correct place. Eunho is the only one who wakes up in the wrong place (Hyeri's unit). That's why you always see her climbing the stairs to her upper unit every time she wakes up, but not Hyeri. The only explanation for this is that Eunho knows about Hyeri and has been accommodating to her lifestyle (only doing morning shifts etc), making sure not to confuse her.

I don't really judge based on ratings. Usually I look at the top reviews and sentiment on sites like here/dramabeans/reddit, how successful the drama was, and the writer's other works.

If you're talking about TV ratings, the ratings so far aren't low for a channel like ENA. If you're talking about MDL's rating, well I don't think this site has much credibility anyway lol.

The first 2 episodes are setting up the story. First ep might be a bit tricky to get through. It's hard to say if this will be a good show but it's intriguing to me.

Maybe it just didn't occur to her at the time. Or maybe she did realise it but just brushed it off as she couldn't come up with a convincing enough excuse.

Does she sleep in 301 and live in 302 ?
Eunho lives upstairs in 302 while Hyeri lives in 301. Eunho is aware of Hyeri's presence and her living in 301, and she goes to 301 everyday to sleep on Hyeri's bed (so Hyeri wouldn't be confused by waking up in another house). She then goes upstairs to her 302 apartment after waking up every morning. Hyeri has found out about Eunho's presence, but might not be aware of where she lives, unless she remembers Eunho entering her apartment from her "dreams". And by typing this I just realized how complicated all of this is lol.

For real, I'm about to stop looking at the comment section for Korean dramas. I came here looking for insight…
This happens for almost all the shows with internationally famous lead(s). Thankfully, the comments under non-romance shows tend to be less ridiculous.
