Wtf was that dead body in a freezer at the end of episode 2? Is it just part of her imagination, or?? And the way she straight up sent that long ass text to her colleague telling her about it got me cracking up. I don't know why I found that hilarious lmao!
Eun-ho, even before the DID, seemed quite insecure and needing of validation. During the short snippet of their long term relationship, she is extremely clingy and constantly needs validation that he loves her. There are signs of being overly emotionally reliant on her partner. She doesn't seem to have much friends or family looking out for her, isn't well-liked at work and doesn't receive much respect from her colleagues either. Her ex was probably most of her support system which is why the breakup had such an impact on her.
Interesting. This is going to be about messy and entangled relationships, with a mentally confused woman at the center. The split personalities of the FL are both written to be flawed people, her actual character is quite petty/pathetic (probably a means of coping with her unhappiness with her life) while her alter is very eccentric but kind of charming. First episode was surprisingly funny in parts. I think it can go both ways, if they explore this properly it can become a very unique story but if they don't, it can get very, and I mean VERY bad.
On a side note, I wonder what really happened to this site. It's almost impossible to have a proper discussion in the comments here nowadays without seeing a load of trolls, irrelevant spam, super defensive people, arguments about the actors and whatnot. At this point, it's getting worse than reddit.
I literally hollered when Minsu's dad decided to whack the girl with the shovel after realizing she wasn't dead. What an idiotic and despicable man, just like his son! This whole incident is really just a series of fuck ups by those useless teens and disgusting parents. Can't say I felt bad when he got shot in the chest. He actually deserved a more painful death.
My heart is breaking for poor Boyoung. She was just an ordinary teenager who had to deal with so much crap because of the shitty adults around her, but that smile on her face when her father gifted her the $2 bracelet was so innocent. Boyoung's dad is an alcoholic and abusive piece of trash, but I genuinely felt bad for him for a moment. These supporting actors are too good.
The international reviews from TIFF are mixed, but maybe it will be received better in SK because of the nationalistic message. This movie had a massive budget and needs about 7 million viewers to break even.
This movie took all theatres. Of course it would do good. It’s also on action pack movie came out in September…
Also don't forget the big name director and that the first movie was a huge success, that's probably the biggest draw. It ticks all the boxes to be a hit plus it's the only new release, so naturally it took all the screens.
Sometimes people complain about blockbusters monopolizing the theaters so they have no other choices, and they're not giving a chance to other films showing at the same time. Unfortunately that's just how it works because that's how theaters make as many bucks as possible. That's why the timing of release is important and smaller films/distributors avoid clashing with the big dogs.
The general consensus seems to be that it's not as good as the first movie. But there isn't any competition in the box office until Joker 2 and there's a long Chuseok holiday, so it's expected to do well anyway. I just find it funny how the competition was so fierce in the summer and now suddenly only this movie is showing lol.
Unfortunately young actors/actresses are still struggling to break into movies. Hyeri was apparently disappointed…
Yeah, the result is indeed disappointing. I guess the genre doesn't have such a wide appeal plus the competition from summer blockbusters is just too tough.
Except the scenario for Samdalri felt way too staged and fake for it to be engaging, and Doctor Slump was just…
Personally WTS's starting scenario was weak, but it got better and I liked the show overall. DS did some things well (like an actual mature and authentic mother-daughter relationship), but others not that much.
For this one I would like to see more of what the FL went through in the US. Not sure if I've seen a kdrama touch on racism towards Asians in the West.
First 2 episodes were kind of average. So far 80% of the story is basically a mix of Welcome to Samdalri and Doctor Slump, both very recent shows, and I'm having a bit of genre fatigue. Also, I'm really not a fan of a FL casually throwing punches at the ML, or a mother beating up her grown daughter without hearing her out. The comedy is a hit or miss as well.
Initial audience reviews are looking good, it will be great if this does well. I think that will open doors for big movie productions starring young actresses
Why a waste ? It's not because a movie doesn't make millions of entries that it is bad, or a waste of the actors…
I do agree that a box office flop doesn't necessarily mean it's a "waste" in any way. Plenty of good movies flopped at the box office. Burning sold 500k in SK (note this was before covid and the industry crisis), but is still being called a masterpiece now.
JDY is at goddess-tier status with all her awards, so people were shocked when she said she doesn't even get that many offers. On the other hand, JCW is a good actor but I truly think it's his international popularity that gets him so many projects.

This is a crime drama, which is the genre where SK has released many acclaimed hits in the past. It has an audience of its own so I don't see how this "could never have been a hit". Other than that, while I partially agree with your points, this is a business in the end. Jeon Doyeon recently talked about how she didn't get much script offers even after winning an award at Cannes. What gets actors hired is still the success of their works. Granted the actors involved are all established, a flop on their filmography is still not going to be a good thing.

Everyone in this damn village is TRASH
