This reminded me of a very popular british show called Normal People , It has very similar vibes with the exclusion it didn't have 18+ content. Both shows are incredible in their own right but talking about Doona , Like wow there's a reason why people rate it either 10 or 0 .The story is well scripted the characters are so well constructed for a work of this level to be shunned and given such a low rating ?A gem is an understatement , this is being added to my top 3 most liked shows of all times.Just wow well done to everyone in this show.I need to make an essay explaining why this is so good , Man i really can't explain it to words the vibe it gives off is just right it's just perfect. I finished it now but i'll be depressed for 3 days having finished it all.
For those who don't understand the ending , I'll tell you here this is the ending that was perfect , it showcased the ML prime personality trait which was kindness and self sacrifice , he understood for doona's own mental health he had let her choose without affecting her decision making ,making her mature as a person and as a character from this abnoxious girl that was depressed and didn't wanna live in the world.At the end they both matured in their own respective way and their love flourished , i'm sure in their world they were still together at the end , why? Cause there's no such thing as unrequited love there's only people who give up and the characters are people who didn't give up on their love even after that much time passed.
Thank you to the screenwriters , directors, camera men , stuntmen and every staff team member for creating this masterpiece even though they don't get the same recognition as the actors , they are an important element of making this show a secret gem and a masterpiece.
MDL ranking is definitely not justified for this amazing show.Best Kdrama of 2023 7.8 when it deserves a positive 9+ but people are butthurt it's not normal kdrama plot
P.S : This show also hints on the cruelty of the Kpop industry , this is why i will never support any group or company or ever listen to kpop. I feel bad about the kpop idols and listening all the the scandals like Burning Sun and Taeil scandal i can't just ignore it. This show also showed a side of the darkness inside this hellhole of an industry
When exactly did they end their relationship? The ending hinted on secret dating each other it's a coincidence both are in japan at the ending ? I think not
If i had to pick i would say love next door , it's more smooth plotwise ,this has a few timeskips and transitions that you really left wondering wtf is goin on.Both are good tho

If i had to assume 1. Someone close to her died 2. Something happened with the so-called boyfriend way before she came to korea and lied to her parents so they don't feel disappointed(Maybe he works in the company and publicly humiliated her or smth, it seemed like a really toxic environment with this mfs bullying the FL) 3. Something else i have we have no clue about ...this series keeps surprising me so i can only expect the unexpected from now on haha.

Episode 1 started out looking grim , the quality and the start was confusing but it slowly picked up mid way through and left on cliche cliffhanger.
Episode 2 more things started rolling out and they slowly start to show us some parts that don't resemble a normal romcom kdrama , quality def picked up and chemistry is good enough.
Can't wait for ep3 and 4 to roll out , i kinda feel where they trying to go with this but only time will tell if they succeed in making it in the top 3 of this year.
P.S: You should ignore people boycotting this kdrama for the age gap ... i haven't seen anyone boycotting any kdrama with Lee kyung Hyung(A known rapist and pedophile).Of course this has nothing to do with this kdrama but it's funny to me how MDL comment section has degraded from 4-5 years ago.Sorry for the rant
7/10 Started getting really annoyed by the Qi yu and weiyi romance , it was such a filler and pointless i dropped my 8.5/10 rating at the end cause they single handedly ruined the series for me ...like idk what the writers were thinking but it was so pointless to even include them
